The premise behind Battle Brothers is essentially Mount & Blade, but with turn-based strategy combat. You’re set free in a low-fantasy medieval World and must form your own warband, set your own goals, and find your own way to survive the tough battles ahead. It’s a game with hundreds of hours of play time, with a randomly generated world every time you start anew. Highly recommended.
19 – Total War: Rome Remastered
Total War: Rome was the game that catapulted the Total War series to absolute stardom in the early 2000s, with its amazing mix of grand-strategy empire building and spectacularly large real-time strategy battles. This classic was modernized in Total War: Rome Remastered, which is the best and cheapest way to experience this classic.

If you’re the kind of player who has always been eager to play wargames but has always been intimidated by their size and complexity, as well as some very often exorbitant high price, then Battle Academy is the game you need! Easy to learn, cheaper than a cup of coffee, and content-rich to keep you busy for months on end, going over some of the most iconic moments in World War 2. Enjoy this opportunity to play one of the best wargames of all time.

Do you remember the awesome Zoo Tycoon? The Game where you built and managed your own zoo, took care of your animals, and kept your guests happy? That amazing game from 2001? Then Planet Zoo is the closest thing you’ll find in 2025 to the feeling you had while playing Zoo Tycoon.
16 – Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun
The sales pitch for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is: The Commandos series gets modernized, improved in every aspect, and taken to the Sengoku Jidai period in Japanese history. Prepare to zigzag around cones of vision, lure enemies into bushes, and perform some very ninja-stabby actions. In all fairness, all of Mimimi’s games could be here, were it not for the price, but due to the innovations made, and the setting itself, I think that Shadow Tactics still stands as the best real-time tactics (RTT) game you can play in 2025, and one you should buy during the Steam Winter Sale 2025.
