Fields of History: The Great War

Hey, look! It’s not a Hooded Horse title! This one is getting published by MicroProse Software and developed by Wolferos! Fields of History: The Great War is aiming to bring an authentic, deeply detailed World War I simulation to the grand strategy genre. Built on a massive 3D map featuring over 10,000 detailed provinces, the game puts players in total command of early 20th-century state affairs, doing all those usual things we all love to do, like balancing complex industrial supply chains, espionage, researching new technologies, and fighting over stretches of land that will be useless for decades to come after we’re wrangling them from the dying hands of our opponents. It’s a World War 1 focused grand strategy game. Finally.
Total War: Medieval III
Announced during Creative Assembly’s 25th anniversary, Total War: Medieval III marks the long-awaited return to the franchise’s most requested historical era. Powered by the all-new Warcore engine, this sequel delivers massive medieval battlefields, deeper feudal politics, and dynamic dynasty management. While the game is in active development and Creative Assembly is doing a great job of showcasing to players what they’re building, there’s not a ton of detail, and the release date is still a mystery, but I would take a gander at late 2027 or 2028.
Crown of Hispania

Developed by Regalis Studio and published by indie.io, Crown of Hispania‘s pitch sounds exactly like the kind of game I’m looking forward to! The game is set to deliver an intensely focused grand strategy experience centered on 11th-century medieval Iberia and the Reconquista. Set across 300 detailed provinces, the game features fully simulated populations where every character, culture, and religion dynamically reacts, migrates, and evolves based on your rule. Combining free army movement, logistics, and challenging AI with deep court diplomacy, it stands out as a highly specialized medieval sandbox launching in late 2026.
