There’s not much going on this week, is there? I think it’s fair to say that most game developers are battening down the hatches and waiting for the imminent arrival of GTA 6, which will surely overtake much of the conversation around games until the end of the year. At least we still have Dawn of War 4 to look forward to in December. Anyway, I still managed to fetch some interesting news. Let’s go over them.
Dawn of War 4 Is Looking Absurdely Good
We’re reaching the end of October, and that means we’re almost just one month away from finally playing Dawn of War 4, one of my most anticipated strategy games of 2026, and I’m sure it’s also on many of your lists as well. A near 10-minute trailer goes over the game’s highlights, including how the game is returning ot the roots of the first Dawn of War, highlighting the number of missions, the commanders and units, and a big focus on the Primarch Lion El’Jonson. Dawn of War 4 comes out on December 3rd, 2026.
Steam Next Fest Is A SlopFest

This Steam Next Fest has been flooded with what we can only call an ungodly and insane amount of AI slop trash games. With over 7,000 games taking part in this Steam Fest, it’s nearly impossible to discover any decent games with a ridiculous amount of effort (and mental fortitude) to parse AI game after AI game until one finds something interesting to play.
While this is certainly annoying right now, I also think that this is a problem that will sort itself out once people realize that just creating trash doesn’t sell, and they’ll stop it. Until then, we’re stuck with this trash. At least go check out my list of the best strategy games available.
Crown of Hispania One Month After Launch

Crown of Hispania, the Crusader Kings 3 to be, is celebrating its first month of being out and about. The team has been working on it, and here’s a small recap: 8 updates, most of which are focused on the game’s stability and bug fixing. They’ve gone over game freezes and crashes, incorrect AI behaviors, and just overall broken parts of the game. They’ve also introduced new historical content to the game, including the rise of Portugal (yeah!) and the Almoravid Invasion, amongst several others. I wanted to review the game, but I don’t think it was quite cooked enough for that, so I might end up going back to it after a couple of patches.
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector Update

It’s hard to believe how long Battlesector has been around for! This unassuming turn-based strategy game went on to become one of the best 40K titles of all time, and it has been growing ever since it was released in 2021! It’s already 5 years old! Well, starting on October 29th, Battlesector will officially support Xbox Play Anywhere.
At the same time, the game will receive a massive free update for all owners. Here’s what you can expect:
- New Damage Calculation System: added a new game mechanic system where weapon damage values are calculated to 1 decimal place
- Tyranids Major Balance: significant adjustments to the Hive Fleet
- New Unit Loadouts: added a new Multi-melta option for Ultramarine Eradicators and a new Plasma Rifle weapon option for Tau Crisis Battlesuits
- New “Rerouted” Skirmish Map: added a new map from the Deeds of the Fallen DLC to Skirmish mode.
- New Model Count Variants: added new Model Count variants to various units: Guardsmen, Bloodletters, Cultists, Termagants, Hormagaunts, Gargoyles, Strike Team, Breacher Team
