If you’ve been keeping up with Tempest Rising, one of the best real-time strategy games of the last year, you know the back-and-forth between the Global Defense Force and the Dynasty needed a shake-up. And there’s nothing like a new, crazy faction to do that. Fortunately, that’s all changing on September 29, 2026, when 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks finally drop The Veti’s Wrath, the long-awaited third faction expansion meant to shake up the entire game.

The Veti are an ancient, alien force lying in tatters in the wake of the Tempest Wars. Now, after being hunted down by humans, the Veti are gathering their strength and forces towards one single purpose: The Reclamation of what was once theirs. Their campaign will go over their efforts in reuniting their forces, reclaiming stolen technology, and excising the corruption that threatens their existence.

They work differently from the two other factions in the sense that fallen enemies are converted to their ranks and can, in turn, be sacrificed mid-battle to fuel the Veti’s war machines and embolden their warriors.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming in the update:

• 11-Mission Story Campaign: A full single-player campaign detailing the Veti’s relentless rise and expansion.
• Free Multiplayer & Skirmish Update: If you own the base game, you get full access to the Veti roster across Matchmaking, Custom Games, and AI Skirmish without paying a dime extra for multiplayer access.
• A Massive New Roster:
  • Units: 7 Vehicles, 6 Infantry types, 5 Air Units, and 5 Specialists.
  • Bases: 9 main Structures alongside 5 Defensive Turrets/Emplacements.
  • Abilities: 5 global Support Powers and 1 devastating, endgame Superweapon.

Between the bio-harvesting flavour and a whole new suite of tactical options, The Veti’s Wrath looks like it might finally give Tempest Rising the shot in the arm traditional C&C-style strategy games have been craving.
