1 – Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age

The number of people I heard call Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age their dream game is astonishing. I knew that Sea Power was going to be successful and well-received based on its premise, but this? I think that no other wargame got this kind of reception in the last 5 to 10 years! It’s pretty much on its merry way to become one of the best wargames ever made, and certainly one of the best naval-focused videogames ever put to code. The graphics are beautiful, the weapon and detection systems on ships, planes and submarines are sublimely modelled, the combat is intense and realistic, and the best part of it is: despite all this complexity, Sea Power is easy to just pick up, boot a scenario and play around. This doesn’t mean you’ll win, it just means that you’ll be able to start having fun very fast, as learning what each unit and each subsystem does and how they interact with one another is quite the challenge in and of itself.
