Strategy Games Where Your Armies and Units Are Absolutely Insane

1 – Red Alert 2

The absolute pinnacle of B-movie campy insanity, Cold War alternative-history madness. Red Alert 2 throws any semblance of military realism out the window in favor of pure sci-fi nonsense, and it’s right up my alley. To the point that I’m sure I can say, from memory, every existing unit in the game. The Soviet army deploys the mind-controlling Yuri, giant, ship-crushing giant squids, and blimps painted with angry shark faces that drop infinite bombs – The Infamous “Kirov Reporting!”. Meanwhile, the Allied forces countered them with chronological commandos who erase tanks from existence, trained to attack dolphins equipped with sonar weapons, and infantry flying around on jetpacks firing lasers. Silly? Yes. Amazing? Yes.

Conclusion

What about you, dearest reader? Do you have any memories of older games that have these kinds of memorable units we are currently missing in 2026? What is your favorite strategy game with over-the-top, wildest, and downright crazy games? I would really love to know, and I’m sure I have missed a few of the older titles.
