Strategy and Wargaming News – 24 May 2026 – Dawn of War 4 Release Date and Crusade Mode Details, 40K XCOM-Like Chaos Gate Sequel Coming, and Battlespace Command Announced

Battleship Command Release Date

MicroProse has locked in an official Battleship Command release date of June 2, 2026, for its highly immersive World War II naval simulation game on Steam Early Access. The game wants to be a deeply authentic tactical title that lets players step into the first-person boots of a commander aboard a meticulously modeled 30,000-ton Scharnhorst-class battleship. Aspiring admirals will walk the historical decks, manage complex damage control, utilize authentic radar and rangefinder systems, and coordinate entire surface fleets across a dynamic, weather-torn European theater.

Wargame Design Studio Game Of The Week Is Normandy Gold ’44

Wargame Design Studio has highlighted Normandy Gold ’44 as its featured Game of the Week, shining a spotlight on one of the most definitive, historically rigorous digital simulations of World War II’s Western Front. Perfect for hardcore hexagonal wargame enthusiasts, this entry in the acclaimed Squad Battles series delivers unparalleled tactical depth, forcing players to manage every minute detail of the battlefield. The game features 96 scenarios, the entire area of northern France, and covers in realistic detail the Orders of Battle of all armies involved in the fighting on the hedgerows of France. At 25%, for just $29.95, this is very much a steal, and it’s one of my favorite wargames ever made.

9 Kings Will Get Multiplayer

Let’s round things up with another fun-tastic news: Sad Socket, the indie development studio behind the runaway hit roguelike kingdom builder 9 Kings, has officially confirmed that a highly requested multiplayer mode is currently in active development, and it’s coming out tomorrow, May 25th! Since exploding in popularity during Steam Next Fest and selling hundreds of thousands of copies in Early Access, the addictive pixel-art strategy title has captivated players with its unique blend of deckbuilding, tower defense, and chaotic autobattler combos, and it even made its way into my list of the best games of 2025.

That’s all for this week! Stay tuned for a Tuesday preview of Vultures – Scavengers of Death, a tactical turn-based survival horror game inspired by the 90s survival horror classics like Resident Evil!
