5 – D.O.R.F. Real-Time Strategic Conflict
“And the award to the best looking strategy game of 2026 goes to D.O.R.F.” – Oh wait, too soon, right? Because D.O.R.F., the title that aims to resurrect the spirit of classic 90s‑era RTS games with a modern polish and a gritty post‑apocalyptic future twist, isn’t even out yet. My bad, but the game just looks spectacular in every aspect. But let’s dive into what the game is going to be like, because players will pick from one of three unique factions (a war‑hardened Empire, junk‑machine Warbands or the high‑tech N.W.O.) and then proceed to do whatever they do in real-time strategy games like build sprawling bases with refineries, factories and defenses, harvest resources field land, air and sea forces including tanks, multi‑turret landships, zeppelins, psychic units or heavy mechs and then duke it out on the field. Are you an old-school RTS fan of the 90s? If so, you should do yourself a favor and wishlist D.O.R.F., because you don’t want to miss this one, as it could very well become one of 2026’s most promising indie RTS revivals.
4 – Sudden Strike 5

Slated for 2026, Sudden Strike 5 marks the next evolution of the iconic WWII real‑time tactics series, delivering yet another gritty, authentic, and fun battlefield experience focused on tactical command in the field of battle. Players will command over 300 authentic units, from infantry squads to tanks like Shermans or T‑34s and classic warplanes, across a 25‑mission campaign set in Europe and North Africa. Sudden Strike 4 set itself apart from other games in the genre due to its looks and content, so hopefully Sudden Strike 5 will deliver in the exact same department and be a lot better in both.
3 – Falling Frontier

Falling Frontier has been delayed time and time again, but hopefully, 2026 is going to be the year this sci‑fi RTS published by Hooded Horse sees the light of day. From the looks of it, Falling Frontier is the kind of game that will be a staple in the space strategy genre, and it’s going to do so by combining deep logistics, reconnaissance, fleet customization, and tactical ship combat in a vast, procedurally generated star system in a way no other game has done before. Instead of traditional base‑building, you’ll manage supply depots, refineries, recon stations, and shipyards, design and outfit your own fleet from dozens of vessel classes ranging from nimble frigates to massive cruisers. For RTS fans craving space warfare with strategic depth, stealth, and supply‑chain mechanics, Falling Frontier could be one of 2026’s most compelling next‑gen strategy games.
2 – Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4
After playing the Definitive Edition of the first Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, I have hope that Dawn of War 4 will represent a bold return to the franchise’s strategic roots by restoring classic base‑building, resource control, large‑scale armies, and sprawling real‑time battles in the grim‑dark universe of Warhammer 40,000. Developed by KING Art Games (rather than the original creators), the game is set to launch with four playable factions, including Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus. Each faction will boast distinct units, buildings, playstyles, and its own separate campaign, with 70 missions total!
