Just a couple of days ago I have published an article about the best games to play on the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, and mentioned Company of Heroes, and I remember thinking to myself “I wonder if we’re ever going to get the Definitive Edition treatment that Dawn of War did”, and lo and behold, Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition was announced today, at the PC Gaming Show 2026. While details are still a bit thin, there’s already plenty of information out there.
Who’s Working On CoH – Definitive Edition?
The game is currently being worked on by Relic Entertainment and Blackbird Interactive, and while the former is well known, the latter has worked on titles like Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and Homeworld 3. Currently, there is no release date.
What’s Changing and What’s Remaining The Same?
It looks like Relic is going to go the way of the Dawn of War route with Company of Heroes, by just doing minor adjustments and updating only where it’s needed, while keeping everything else intact, so it’s more fitting to say that this is a remaster, instead of a remake.

- It’s going to include all content from the base game, as well as the Opposing Front and Tales of Valor expansions.
- It features enhanced AI for a more dynamic and challenging single-player and co-op experience.
- Modernized UI;
- Modern controls (can we finally use WASD instead of the arrows?)
- Enhanced visuals while maintaining the original art direction and tone, with changes made to the environments, the textures, and lighting;
- 64-Bit Legacy Mod support to support the already existing and extensive modding scene.
Release Date?
While no definitive release date was announced yet, and the Steam page says that it’s yet to be known, the YouTube description for the game mentions that it’s coming in the Fall of 2026, so it should arrive sometime in September or October.

That’s all I got for you at the moment, and if any new details show up in the following months, I’ll be updating this article with that information!
