Ultimate General: Civil War – $ 14.99
You have heard about Ultimate General: Gettysburg before on this list. Ultimate General: Civil War is exactly that, but for the entirety of the American Civil War. One of the best strategy games ever made, and certainly one of the top 3 best American Civil War games. For me, it’s the best one.
Shadow Empire – $ 15.99
Imagine if Civilization and Crusader Kings came together and had a baby. Then, that baby grew up and had a baby with Hearts of Iron. That’s Shadow Empire, one of the most in-depth games ever made, with a massive focus on political intrigue, civilizational development, and military acumen.
Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front – $ 19.24
Every person with a passing interest in strategy games, wargames, or World War 2 will inevitably come across Graviteam Tactics’ magnum opus that is Mius-Front. This is, literally, and with no exaggeration, the most realistic small unit tactics wargame in existence as of 2025. A more detailed, more realistic depiction of what war was like at the tactical level just doesn’t exist. It’s the pinnacle, the best, or as the kids say these days, the GOAT.
WARNO – $ 19.99
What Steel Division is for World War 2, WARNO is for the Cold War. It’s essentially the Wargame franchise taken to a whole new level of detail, graphical quality, and a ton of new content. I reviewed and had a lot of fun. It has one of the most active competitive multiplayer communities of any strategy and wargame out there.
Burden of Command – $ 19.99
I just had to cram Burden of Command in here, because it’s not only an excellent tactics game, it’s one of the few games that dared to innovate and create something truly unique, by adding into wargames a massive narrative element that they, more often than not, completely lack or downright ignore. It’s amazing how much your playstyle can change once you start looking at your digital soldiers as supposed human beings, and not chits or stats to juggle around.
You Won’t Be Going To War With Your Wallet With These Cheap Wargames From The Steam Autumn Sale 2025
As I have said in my introduction, this list isn’t supposed to be an in-depth analysis of every title in here; it’s more of a round-up of great deals I think you should take advantage of, and to give you some visibility of games you might not even remember that they exist, and you never got around to playing. Get the most out of your money during the Steam, remember that it runs until October 6th!
