Strategy Games Release Dates
Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age Release Date
One of the games I’m most excited about, Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age is the brainchild of the lead designer of the excellent Cold Waters, and will be out in November. In Sea Power, you’ll take over the control of NATO and Warsaw Pact naval and air weaponry, and duke it out in the open seas.
There are over 150 naval units and more than 60 aircraft from the Cold War era to use and battle over the North Atlantic, the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Tonkin, and the Mediterranean. The game’s set to feature advanced flight and ship physics, realistic weapons modeling, over 130 weapon systems, and 50 different ground objects. I think the game’s looking stupendous. Hopefully, the gameplay is on par with its impressive visual presentation.
The game’s coming out in November 2024. No day has been announced.
FrostPunk 2 Out Now
Can you believe the first Frostpunk came out 6 years ago? Here I was thinking that it came out in 2021. The “take your kids to work”, but not in that way videogame now has a more ambitious sequel. Frostpunk 2 elevates the original’s scale by having you take the role of Steward whose task is to manage whole city districts at a time.
The usual challenges apply to perpetual winter and human nature. On one hand, your job is to make sure everyone is kept warm and fed. When people’s basic needs are satisfied, they’ll find other things to be upset about, and that’s where the disparaging factions come in. Your job, as an Overseer, is to manage their expectations, demands, and needs, to keep everyone alive, and to prevent society from falling into disarray.
Planet Coaster 2 Release Date Announced
Planet Coaster 2 is also coming out in November, on the 6th. The sequel to the highly acclaimed park-tycoon original is zooming its efforts into creating the most comprehensive park management experience ever. But Planet Coaster’s most exciting feature is the inclusion of water park rides.
New Games and DLC
War of the Austrian Succession
Wargame Design Studio is adding a new title for the Musket & Pike series called War of the Austrian Succession and it should be out sometime in the next 6 months. The lead designer in this project is a professional historian who worked with the team on other projects in the past. Currently, 66 scenarios are under testing, with 20 more planned to be added. 3 campaigns are expected to feature in the final build.

Scourge of War – Remastered: Ligny DLC Available Now
Having played Scourge of War – Remastered, I can tell you that the performance difference is night and day. The game’s running buttery smooth while keeping the gameplay pretty much intact, with several improvements in terms of UI. With my endorsement out of the way, Norb Soft has released Scourge of War: Waterloo Ligny, the second of the original game’s three expansions (the others being Quatre Bras and Wavre).
Ligny contains five scenarios covering the battle where the Napoleonic forces attacked the Prussians holding the line under the command of FeldMarschall Blucher. This DLC costs 9 dollars, 8 pounds, or 9 euros, depending on your regional currency. If you’re into Napoleonic warfare, Scourge of War is the best thing to get for now.
Call to Arms: Gates of Hell New Faction
The Commonwealth forces are currently under development by the team working on Gates of Hell, and they’ll be making part of a future faction DLC. No other details exist.
