Some Great Age of Empires 2 Mods From the Steam Workshop

*Age of Kings gets released* – “There is no way you can make Age of Empires 2 a better game!”

*Microsoft releases HD version* – “Oh my, the only way you can make this better is by adding the Portuguese! But I guess that never will happen, what a shame!”

*Microsoft starts unloading expansions for AOE2 14 years after it’s original release and adds the Portuguese to the game* – This is it!- Said I, as my arms wailed about- This! Is! It! I’m done!

Once more, when one thought a classic like AoE2 couldn’t improve, it was time for Steam Workshop modsmiths to prove me wrong one more time! I am here today, my fellow strategy gamers, to introduce you two amazing mods for one of my favorite RTS’s of all time!

Check out the amazing things some of these herectics made to this staple in the RTS genre! How dare they improve on near perfection!

What follows next is some eye candy goodness provided by these texture makers artisans! With Ozhara’s Extended Texture Pack Ver. VII and Jorgito’s Unit Reskins Collection what you see next is what you get.

You might find troubling the fact that you can’t imediate perceive what each unit is. Since my clairvoiance skill tree has been maxed out this week, I am providing you with a string of screenshots showing the same scene with Jorgito’s mod turn off:

Now with both mods turned off:

You owe yourself this treat. There are a ton of mods you can try out and have some fun right now in the Steam Workshop. The community has never been so active in pumping out custom made content. It’s amazing how some things only get better as they age.

Speaking of that, remember those moments when you decided it was time to turtle in AoE2? Me too! Check these bad boys out!

Those walls are thick!

When your castle is within the castle! Castleception!

Another similiar screenshots but now look at that entrance! “My arrows will blot out the sun!” – Me, 2018.
