1 – MENACE

With all else out of the way, we have arrived at the number one spot, and there could be only one: MENACE. The new title from the studio responsible for the brilliantly brutal Battle Brothers has finally been released, after years of teasing. MENACE is a game whose core DNA is very closely related to that of Battle Brothers, in the sense that it’s a turn-based strategy title, where the player builds and leads a strike force team, explores, and then finds a late-game MENACE to deal with. In fact, the major difference here lies in the setting itself and the changes it brings, like the combat being mostly ranged and commanding entire squads instead of individual soldiers. However, the core loop is essentially the same, and I absolutely loved it. The game is still in active development, and it might easily achieve the mythical status of its predecessor. Of all the games in 2026, if you’re a fan of strategy, MENACE is the one I recommend the most.

Conclusion

I believe that, by the year’s end, this top 10 list of the best games out in 2026 will look substantially different, and hopefully the games that are coming will be so good that they’ll overtake everyone in here.
