NEBULOUS: Fleet Command Campaign Update Arrives

A couple of weeks ago, I let you all know that Nebulous: Fleet Command was going to launch its campaign, and the day is finally here. Act 1 of the campaign includes 16 missions, each designed with a specific challenge in mind. This kind of puzzle-like design decision might lead one to suspect that the game’s missions would have been designed around having the necessary pieces to tackle said challenges. However, that case is not the case, as ships, fuel, ammo, and damage are persistent across the campaign. The campaign is fully voice-acted, features in-engine cutscenes, and can be played in co-op. This massive new update also adds a campaign editor, new hulls, new battlespaces, and a ton of other improvements.

Heavy Duty Inc. Blue Collar Workers Deal With Space Bugs

We have reached that area of the weekly update where I shine some light upon certain indie projects that come my way. Let’s start with Heavy Duty Inc., a turn-based strategy game that will see players lead a team of mechanics to save a collapsing space station. But the life of blue-collar space workers cannot be so uncomplicated and limited to just fixing what’s breaking apart, while doing that, they’ll also have to fight evil robots and space bugs. There’s a demo available if you want to give this one a go.

First Age Is a Promising Primordial Card Game

To finish our news round-up for this week, let’s take a look at First Age, a strategy card game set in the Neolithic. From what I can gather, the base idea of the game is to try to survive until the final age by reaching a certain number of points. To achieve this, you use your cards and their synergies to build settlements, to trade, and I’m assuming, combo your way through that threshold so that you can keep progressing forward. We don’t have a lot of games set in the pre-historic period, the game’s art looks well made, and the idea is interesting too, so I wanted to highglight this one out. Check it out and wishlist it if this sounds good to you.

There you have it, the last strategy and wargaming news round-up of May, and it was a really great week for strategy gamers. As we enter June, we already have plenty to be excited for, with a Steam Next Fest coming in two weeks and the Steam Summer Sale soon to follow. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of studios announce their demos and start to get even more details for the rest of the games still to be released in the latter half of 2026.
