Total War: Medieval 2

It’s Total War: Medieval 2. Do I even have to say anything about this one? For 5 bucks, it’s a steal, even if the camera controls are a bit too clunky for my modern sensitivities these days. However, with Medieval 3 coming in a couple of years, it’s a great time to revisit this classic.
Field of Glory II: Medieval

Another incredible title that’s going for a fiver! I have named Field of Glory II: Medieval as the Medieval games whose battles always provide the most realistic outcomes possible. If there’s a battle, idea, or tactic you wish to try, there’s no better game than Field of Glory II: Medieval. The game has hundreds of units, dozens of nations, and hundreds (or thousands) of army lists from every era of the Medieval period. Like Stronghold Crusader, FoG II: Medieval is a permanent fixture on my gaming PC. Field of Glory II: Medieval – Reconquista is also an amazing expansion that’s going for an extra 7 dollars. Well worth it.
Manor Lords
The best-looking game on this list, and one of the most popular as well. Manor Lords was a massive success when it came out in April 2024, and cemented itself as one of the best and most detailed medieval city-sims ever made. Every building, production chain, and piece of material is based on real history, and the house-plotting mechanic mirrors the organic city growth that most European towns experienced during this time. My only complaint is that the game doesn’t have enough combat, because that too is pretty in-depth, and better than most Total War titles, even if it’s an afterthought for Manor Lords.
Stock Up On The Best Medieval Games and Avoid The Gaming Dark Ages
This was a shorter article than what you’re probably used to seeing around here, but I wanted to give my two cents on what games I think are the best strategy games to buy during the Steam Medieval Fest 2026, and this selection pretty much covers the all-time greats. You can’t go wrong with any of those. I hope you have enjoyed. If you did, please leave me a subscribe so you can receive more articles like this straight to your email!
