WARNO Artillery Rework

Eugen Systems has finally dropped the much-discussed Artillery Rework for WARNO. The update completely changes how fire missions are handled, moving away from “set and forget” barrages to a more tactical system involving counter-battery radar and refined dispersion mechanics. It’s a massive change that will force every Cold War commander to rethink their frontline support strategies.

Plague Inc: Aliens & Anti-Vaxxers Coming April 7th

Ndemic Creations is back with one of the most intriguing DLC packs yet for Plague Inc, a game that came out in 2016. Dropping on April 7th, the Aliens & Anti-Vaxxers expansion adds a crystalline alien infection that behaves unlike any earthly pathogen. There are zombies now, and the game sees the inclusion of a new “Anti-Vaxxer” mechanic, where misinformation and public distrust become another tool to help you out.

Command: Modern Operations – Tides of War Out Now

The latest DLC for Command: Modern Operations, titled Tides of War, has officially launched. This pack of scenarios takes place in 2025, where a joint exercise of ASEAN countries is met with a fierce response from China. In response, it deploys its forces to harass and disrupt the exercise, creating a dangerous escalation ladder. The six-scenario campaign reflects this escalation, from non-kinetic confrontation to a full-on engagement of forces. A new feature of Tides of War is its continuous loss script design, making loses matter more, now that they carry between scenarios, and attrition accumulates across the campaign.

Stellar Tactics Leaves Early Access

After nearly a decade in active development, the massive sci-fi RPG and tactical combat sim Stellar Tactics has finally warped out of Early Access into version 1.0. This is a staggering achievement for a small team, offering a vast galaxy to explore, deep character customization, and a mix of ground-based tactical combat and space exploration. It’s the sort of game where you are supposed to go around and make your own fun, very much in the vein of Mount and Blade.

Vaunted Announced

A new turn-based strategy game from Hooded Horse and Lost Lake Games, Vaunted, was announced this week, and it’s looking stylish and promising. I’m not sure yet how the whole thing is going to work, but it’s looking to pair turn-based strategy planning with real-time action. Very curious to see how it all works out in the end. I’ll keep my eye on this one.

  1. So MicroProse is pushing Russian propaganda (“Ukrainian Warfare: Gostomel Heroes”)? How about: “Concentration Camp Tycoon”? I’ve bought my last MicroProse game.

    1. As far as I know, MicroProse isn’t publishing the game, that’s not mentioned here.

      1. Reading is hard, apparently. Anyway, I enjoyed “Syrian Warfare”, so this one might be good as well.

  2. Many conflicts invole horrific events and time tends to blur the realities (I say this as someone who plays Ostfront as the Germans/Wehrmact who where far from clean) but I know what they did. However, this one is really too soon Ukrainian Warfare: Gostomel Heroes. That is like making a video game of the Wehrmacht invasion of Poland in 1942. I would ask for that game to be removed. Was it added to be really controversial? It sullies your page, Sir.

    1. I won’t remove the mention. People are free to decide for themselves if they want to play it or not. However, I did update it to reflect the propagandistic nature of its Steam page.

      1. It’s your page and I enjoy reading it when it comes into my mailbox. I feel in this instance you make a
mistake giving this title airtime. I of course appreciate your honest reply.

  3. likewise. now an ex- microprose buyer and i’m removing the bookmark from this site

    1. Microprose isn’t mentioned, and as far as I know, it isn’t publishing the game. It’s a self publish title, according to Steam page. I updated it to reflect the propagandistic nature of its Steam page. As for the game itself, I didn’t think the demo was all that good.
