Strategy and Wargaming News – 10th August – Ashes of Singularity 2 Announced, Battlefield 6 Open Beta, Stormgate Out Of Early Access!

Hello, boys and girls! How are you? I remember when Summer used to be the drought season for gaming, where nothing of note would happen, with all the major publishers saving their releases for the Christmas season. Well, those times are clearly long-gone, and we have massive news all year long, every week! Heck, I would even dare say, every single day. So let’s get started!

Ashes of Singularity 2

Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games have officially announced a sequel to their large-scale RTS game. Ashes of the Singularity 2 is set to release in 2026 and is being developed by an expanded team. It will introduce a new arsenal of advanced units and new gameplay mechanics. The game will feature a narrative campaign where players command the United Earth Forces against a rogue AI and a Post-Human Coalition in the near future of 2031. The game is a traditional RTS, so expect it to include base-building, resource management, and massive battles with hundreds of units on screen. In related news, Stardock is offering a free weekend for the predecessor, Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation.

The Guild – Europa 1410

The Guild: Europa 1410 is a new simulation strategy game announced by THQ Nordic and developed by Ashborne Games. It’s a return to the roots of the series, inspired by the 2002 game Europa 1400: The Guild. In this game, players will start as a humble business in a medieval city and build it into a massive enterprise. With economic power comes political interests, so players will have to navigate the intricate political landscape of the time with less-than-stellar methods, similarly to what one would do in Crusader Kings 3. No release date has been announced, but it’s fair to say I’ll keep my eye on this one.

Battlefield 6 Open Beta Running Right Now!

The announcement of Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, with everyone who already had the opportunity to play the game praising it for being a return to the basics. Those basics don’t mean Battlefield 1942, but Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, arguably, the best titles in the whole series. Well, I’m but a single man, and I’m not immune to the hype, so by the time you’re reading this, I’ll certainly be in the Battlefield 6 Open Beta, which is running August 9th-10th, as well as August 14th-17th!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition Comes Out This Week

The classic real-time strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is coming out in a matter of days, on the 14th of August, 2025. The Definitive Edition of the beloved RTS classic delivers all of the game’s original content and it’s DLCs in a single package, adds 64 bit support, an integrated mod manager, 4K resolution support, and improves on the overall presentation of the game by upgrading its unit textures, world lightiung, unit relfections, and detailed shadows.
