5 – Commandos: Origins
The legendary real-time tactics series made its triumphant return with Commandos: Origins. Despite all the skepticism around it before its release, the team managed to pull some sort of magical task force together and sort all the major issues before the game went gold. This highly anticipated prequel to one of strategy’s most beloved franchises plunges you into the early days of the iconic WWII elite unit, tasking you with leading a squad of six unique Commandos – each with distinct skills – through perilous, stealth-driven missions behind enemy lines. Master intricate planning and execute perfectly synchronized maneuvers using the innovative “Command Mode” as you infiltrate Nazi strongholds across diverse historical environments.
4 – Manor Lords
I called Manor Lords the best medieval game of all time at the time of its release, and despite the game having evolved at a slower pace than I was expecting it to, I still think that when it comes to the day-to-day management of a medieval town, there’s no better representation out there. This ambitious title seamlessly blends organic city-building simulation with deep real-time tactical battles. You’ll meticulously grow a small village into a thriving medieval settlement, managing intricate production chains and fostering your populace. When conflict inevitably arises, command your peasant levies and professional retinues in large-scale RTS combat, where formation, morale, and terrain are crucial. I still think that the mdeival battles are a largely developed part of the game, and I have some hoeps that the team manage to build upon it, because what’s already there is still a whole of a lot better than what we had with other historical games, like Knights of Honor and even Medieval Total War, at least in terms of realism and tactical options. If, like me, you love the Middle Ages and want to spend some time putting together the hamlet of your dreams, then there’s no better game in 2025 than Manor Lords.
3 – Total War: WARHAMMER III
The epic conclusion to a legendary trilogy, Total War: WARHAMMER III is an unmissable highlight for any Total War and Warhammer enthusiast. This monumental fantasy real-time strategy (RTS) plunges you into the cataclysmic conflict with the daemonic forces of Chaos, offering an unparalleled scale of real-time battles and deep turn-based empire management. Command iconic factions like Kislev, Grand Cathay, and the terrifying Daemons of Chaos, each with unique units, magic, and campaign mechanics. With the massive “Immortal Empires” combined map, WARHAMMER III provides hundreds of hours of replayability, cementing its place as a definitive Warhammer strategy experience. Don’t miss this chance to forge your empire and command vast armies at a fantastic price!
2 – Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew
I was a bit rough on this swashbuckling adventure titled Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew when it first came out. But after giving it another go, and not comparing it to the games Mimimi made before, I came to realize that Shadow Gambit is also a masterful real-time tactics stealth game in its own way. From the acclaimed developers behind Shadow Tactics and Desperados III, this title casts you as a cursed pirate assembling an undead and cartoony crew with unique, supernatural abilities. The levels are intricate, open-ended, and give players a ton of options in the way they can approach each and every challenge. Pair that up with a heart-warming fantastical Caribbean setting, and using cunning and perfectly synchronized ghostly powers to outwit the zealous forces of the Inquisition, and this quickly becomes a standout strategy game everyone should give a go, at least once. If you crave a challenging stealth strategy game that rewards meticulous planning, creative problem-solving, and precise execution, Shadow Gambit offers an unforgettable, charmingly dark, and highly replayable tactical experience.
