5 – Espiocracy
Welcome to the top 5 of the best strategy games still to come in 2025! For strategy enthusiasts craving a deeper dive into the shadows of international intrigue, we start this countdown with Espiocracy! This grand strategy game is set to launch on PC in 2025, and this unique title puts players in charge of the intelligence agency of one of 74 playable countries, from the outset of the Cold War and beyond. Yes, you won’t be playing as a country, instead, players will take the role of a single three-letter agency. Espiocracy allows players to rewrite history through subterfuge, influencing ideologies, staging coups, and waging proxy wars from the shadows. With a focus on manipulating public opinion, supporting political factions, and deploying agents to achieve your nation’s interests, the game is expected to offer a rich management experience of the unseen forces that shaped the 20th century. Expect intricate management of operations, budgets, and staff, alongside a dynamic world map where strategic decisions impact everything from nuclear brinkmanship to decolonization. I only hope Espiocracy allows me to play as my country (Portugal), and let me shape the destiny of Europe, not on the battlefield, but in the bureau.
4 – Task Force Admiral
To say that the demo for Task Force Admiral impressed me would be quite an understatement. Even with a game this complex, its systems are so life-like and realistic that just playing on intuition is enough to get things going. I love that. This is a highly anticipated 3D simulation and wargame launching in 2025, focusing on the World War 2 carrier battles of the Pacific. This deep strategy game from MicroProse immerses players in the brutal naval conflicts of the Pacific War, offering an unparalleled level of historical realism and strategic depth, one that I think will raise the bar as to what wargamers and players will expect from other, future titles. Experience the responsibility of commanding a massive Task Force, and the overwhelming work and meticulously managing naval and air wing operations, deploying reconnaissance, planning strikes, and engaging in massive fleet-on-fleet engagements. Task Force Admiral blends traditional real-time strategy (RTS) with intricate simulation mechanics, appealing to both seasoned wargamers and those seeking a truly immersive World War II naval experience. Expect dynamic campaigns, accurate ship and aircraft models, and a focus on the logistical and tactical challenges faced by admirals during this pivotal period of history.
3 – Endless Legend 2
This one I have already played, and I have let you know that the highly anticipated return and hype of this 4X turn-based strategy game is well deserved, with the gaming proving to be as unique and as standout-ish as the 2014 original. Endless Legend 2, is set to launch into Early Access in Summer 2025 on PC. From Amplitude Studios, known for their innovative approach to the genre, this sequel promises to build upon the critically acclaimed original, returning to the rich sci-fi fantasy universe with a focus on deep exploration and asymmetric factions. Players will navigate a dynamic world with ever-changing landscapes due to “tidefall” events, which reveal new territories, resources, and mysteries. But this also means new threats as well. If you have played the original Endless Legend and had fun, you can expect to enjoy this one as well. Players will command 4X’s most diverse factions, each with unique playstyles, lore, and narrative-driven quests that influence the course of their empire. The game will feature a revamped tactical combat system, offering more direct control over units and their active abilities, alongside intricate city-building mechanics that allow for sprawling, multi-tile settlements. Endless Legend 2 aims to deliver a fresh and engaging 4X experience, combining strategic depth with immersive storytelling and a visually distinct art style. After spending a considerable amount of time playing around with it, I think the game’s certainly going to deliver on its premise and promises.
2 – Europa Universalis 5
Grand strategy and historical enthusiasts, rejoice! Europa Universalis 5 has been officially announced and put in the hands of some YouTubers and press, and the first impression is that the game, expected to grace PC screens in 2025, is pretty much a better experience in every way when compared to Europa Universalis 4. This highly anticipated sequel to Paradox Interactive’s flagship historical grand strategy series promises an unparalleled level of depth and simulation, allowing players to guide any of hundreds of nations from the late Middle Ages (starting in 1337, this came up as quite the surprise) through to the Age of Discovery and Expansion, until the Age of Revolution (19th century). Europa Universalis 5 introduces a groundbreaking population-based system, moving beyond the traditional province-focused approach to simulate individual populations, cultures, and religions within your realm. Expect a vastly expanded and more detailed map, a revised military system with enhanced logistical challenges, and an even more sophisticated economic model. With over 500 years of history to reshape through war, trade, and diplomacy, EU5 is poised to offer an endlessly replayable sandbox experience, challenging even the most seasoned strategists to forge their alternate histories.

This large-scale modern warfare RTS game is coming out in 2025, in just a couple of weeks 2025, in June. It’s Slitherine’s most ambitious title, and coming from the developers at Steel Balalaika, Broken Arrow is promising to deliver intense, realistic battles across vast maps, featuring hundreds of units set in the modern-day, with 2025 units, weapon systems, and technologies. Players will engage in a modern conflict pitting the United States against Russia, commanding a massive array of authentic military hardware, from tanks and infantry to artillery, air support, and naval assets all over the Baltic States. Similar to other games in the genre, Broken Arrow emphasizes combined arms tactics but sets itself apart by adding detailed unit customization, a robust logistics system, active unit abilities, and the modern-day setting with drones, stealth fighters, and radars, challenging players to learn on to coordinate complex operations in an ever-evolving battlefield.
