Hello, dear readers! Welcome back to Strategy and Wargaming News. The Steam Autumn Sale of 2026 is in full swing, so publishers and developers have mostly kept to themselves and let this storm of deals pass by. However, since we had the Home of Wargamers this week, I couldn’t pass up this weekly round-up. Let’s get going; this will be brief.
Steam Autumn Sale 2026

The Steam Autumn Sale of 2026 is underway and will run until October 8th, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to make the most of the deals. I have been publishing my recommendations, and to be honest with you, things are a mixed bag. While some sales are certainly hitting all-time highs, I do get the feeling that most of the games aren’t as discounted as I would have hoped, especially older ones. Anyway, feel free to check out my budget picks, my wargaming recommendations, and my real-time strategy ones. I’ll also be doing at least a 4X and a grand strategy one.
Home of Wargamers 2026
The Home of Wargamers 2026 took place this past Wednesday, and I also did a massive recap of it, which you can check out in full here. But to go over things quickly: Combat Mission: Cold War got a new Battlepack; There’s a new Decisive Campaigns title called Twilight in the East; A new Strategic Command: Korea; and a new expansion for Flashpoint Campaigns called Lowland Lios was shadow-dropped. Give the full recap a read; it’s well worth it.
Masters of Albion Update
I didn’t even know that Masters of Albion was out. This game is from 22cans, a studio founded by Peter Molyneux, a man better known for creating the God-genre with Populous, and being the visionary behind the Fable series and my beloved The Movies. He is also known for his “experimental” game called Curiosity – What’s Inside the Cube? and Godus, which didn’t live up to its expectations.
Apparently, the reception of the game was mixed (according to Steam ratings, anyway), and a new trailer was released showcasing how the most recent update improved performance by doubling it and improving the game’s visual quality as well. The night cycle was reworked to be less predictable and more challenging, and to give more varied rewards. Other areas have been improved as well, with a New Arcadium and improved Hand and World interactions.
The Ninth Legion
I came across the Ninth Legion randomly on YouTube, and aside from the fact that this is supposed to be an up-and-coming narrative RTS, not much else is known about it. From the trailer, one can gather that this is probably not going to be a historically accurate title, given all the apparent magic.
Wargame Design Studio – Game of the Week

Wargame Design Studio is at it again, and their game of the week is First World War Campaigns: East Prussia ’14, and it’s going for 25% off. This $29.95 early World War 1 wargame will have you fighting over 4 campaigns, 3 grand campaigns, and 20 scenarios, with the order of battle for German, Russian, and Austro-Hungarian forces that participated in the campaigns.
