Radio Commander ’41 Unveiled
Slitherine is currently working on publishing 2 Radio Commander games, under 2 different studios. The Pacific one has been under development for a while, and it has been receiving regular updates, which we have covered here as well. Now, out of the blue, the first “Transmission from Britain” was revealed on the Slitherine website, going over the rationale behind this new title and why Jacob, the lead developer of the original Radio Commander, has decided that this was the perfect setting for the concept.
It all comes down to the Dowding System. For the uninitiated, this was a system of networks composed of observation posts, radar stations, and command posts that allowed the RAF to gather information ahead of time about incoming German attacks and prepare a strategy. This setting gives the main mechanic of Radio Commander (the incomplete picture and a lack of fully accurate communications) a lot more to work with. The game is called Radio Commander: Battle of Britain ’40, and you can already wishlist it on Steam.
Space Tales Out Now On Steam
The charming sci-fi RTS from Saigon Dragon Studios, Space Tales, is now out on Steam! The full Space Tales experience brings the complete RTS campaign, survival challenges, and all three enemy factions. The game is currently running a 20% launch discount, meaning that the whole thing will cost you $11.99. I have been meaning to give this one a go, mostly because I do love it’s mid of the 20th century sci-fi aesthetic.
Wargame Design Studio – Modern Campaigns: Korea ’85
The fictional scenarios of Cold War Gone Hot are one of wargaming’s favorites. World War 3 kicks off, the Soviets attack, rush through the Fulda Gap, and now it’s up to players to stop them, or guide them. Well, Wargame’s Design Studio Game of the Week, currently on sale for $29.95, takes that concept, but changes the setting completely, and takes players to Korea, where the war never really stopped, but a fragile ceasefire was in place. In Modern Campaigns: Korea ’85, the Cold War grew and spilled over into Korea, and fighting began anew. The game features 73 scenarios, a master map of over 56,000 hexes, and the necessary orders of battle for the North Korean, Chinese, South Korean, and United Nations forces that might have participated in the campaign.
