Another week goes by, and it seems like the strategy and wargaming news never stops flowing. I remember when I started this website a decade ago, and finding newsworthy stuff was a major challenge. Now, I can confidently say that it’s a lot harder to pick what to feature, instead of the other way around. Just have a look at this roundup: Darkest Dungeon, the turn-based strategy classic, gets a new DLC; Magna Conquest, a new medieval RTS, reached 100,000 Wishlists; We have a free DLC for Total War: Warhammer III – Lords of the End Times, a new sneak peak of Bolt Action, and a lot more ground to cover, so let’s jump right in!
Bolt Action – #7 Developer Diary Teaser

Slitherine has been kind enough to let me have a look at their behind-the-scenes stuff with Bolt Action, and allowed me to publish a sneak peek of their upcoming developer diary, which will go over how the AI works. Acknowledging the fact that a substantial portion of their audience will be playing solo a lot of the time (myself included), Slitherine will let you in on its dynamic AI, how it reads the battlefield, weighs its options, and adapts to the ongoing situation. I cannot reveal a lot more, so if you’re interested in learning all about Bolt Action’s AI, you’ll have to wait for the 25th of August, when it will be published on the game’s Steam Page and Slitherine Page.
Darkest Dungeon – The Fire’s Edge New DLC Released
One of the reasons I love video games is that, from time to time, a developer, modder, or publisher will go out of their way to create something out of the blue just for the love of the game. Darkest Dungeon) A game that came out in 2016 just released its first DLC since 2020! Called “The Fire’s Edge“, and costing $6.99, this small expansion adds:
- Two new hero classes. The Duelist (a damage dealer that constantly shifts positions between the party’s ranks, and has two combat stances) and the Runaway (another damage dealer which uses a unique burn damage type for teams with crowd control effects);
- A new combat mechanic called “burn”;
- New trinket mechanics;
- 3 new Hamlet districts: The Academic Duello, Craftworks, and Archeological Base Camp.
Despite this being an absolute treasure of a DLC, there’s one sad aspect I need to point out about the trailer that’s jarring and almost uncanny: there’s no voice acting because the iconic narrator for the game, Wayne June, unfortunately passed away in 2025.
Magna Conquest Battles With 100,000 Units
Magna Conquest is a new real-time strategy game following in the footsteps of Total War. Being developed by CH4WORKS, this recently announced medieval fantasy RTS/Grand-Strategy released a trailer that showcases a scale that I don’t think we have even seen before, with the Steam page stating that armies could go up to 100,000 units. Aside from the impressive battle scenes, the game is set to feature kingdom management, research and technology, diplomacy, and also powerful heroes to lead your kingdom and troops. I’ll keep my eyes trained on this one.
Star Wars Zero Company Out Next Week, and Captain Rex Is Here!
The last trailer for my most anticipated strategy game of 2026 is out, and the game is nearing its release date of August 27th, 2026. It’s really hard to fathom the idea that we’re going to get a high-production value turn-based strategy game, set in the Star Wars Universe, from Electronic Arts, but here we are! Anyway, I have covered Star Wars Zero Company at length, and you can expect a review for it when it comes out, so I just wanted to let you know about its latest trailer, because a fan-favorite character makes a surprise appearance at the 1 minute and 45 second mark! Yes, it is Captain Rex, the one and only.
