Distant Worlds 2 Command Update Coming July 22
Distant Worlds 2, the best sci-fi game for players who really love complexity and a challenge, is getting yet another major update. Named “Command Update”, it’s going live on July 22 and will add new Hive Ship models, a new Empire Contract feature, give colonies the capacity to grow and form new empires, and there will be a slew of fixes and changes. More details are sure to follow on July 14, when Maxim Klose-Ivanov, the game’s Associate Producer, will showcase the update.
Armored Brigade 2 Comrades in Arms Contet Update
Distant Worlds 2 isn’t the only game of the Slitherine and Matrix catalogue to be on an update treadmill. Armored Brigade 2, a game I enjoyed quite a lot when it was released, is receiving new content and gameplay features. It’s going to add the “Comrades in Arms” campaign, bringing eight missions from the perspective of East Germany and Poland. The update will also add a new amphibious capability for vehicles, opening up all new avenues of tactical options. While there is no available date yet, there’s a comment from a dev on the Dev Diary saying that it should be out within a week or so, and this was written on July 8th, so it has to be imminent.
Sea Power Pacific Strike ’85 and Task Force Mode Out Now
One of the best naval wargames available in 2026 is continuously getting better! Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age launched a new update bringing Pacific Strike ’85 and Task Force Mode into the title. The first one is a new campaign where players can build and customize their own task force and deploy it across linked operations. Every ship sunk and missile fired is persistent, forcing players to deal with the long-term consequences of their actions. The update also added new Australian ships, aircraft, and submarines.
