Hell Let Loose 6th June Update
To celebrate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, Hell Let Loose released a new map called “Juno Beach”, which is the first of the D-Day beaches to see the British fighting to establish a foothold on mainland European soil, instead of the Americans (Utah and Omaha were already in the game). The new map is, once again, a meticulously recreated affair and features not only the beach portion itself but the town of Courseulles-sur-Mer and the industrial area of Graye-sur-Mer. I’ll be jumping into it tonight, after I’m done writing this piece. Hell Let Loose is one of the best games to play right now if you want to relive the moments of D-Day, and it’s currently on sale on Steam for $17.49.
Veterans: Napoleonic Wars Coming To Steam Next Fest
If, like myself, you were unable to enter the playtest for Veterans: Napoleonic Wars, despair no longer, as you’ll be able to play it during this Summer’s Steam Next Fest, an event that’s set to go live on June 15th and last until the 22nd of that same month. For the Next Fest demo, the game will feature 2 different scenarios, a tutorial, and the historical Battle of Montenotte, which will give you control of 10,000 French soldiers against 7,000 Austrian ones. The demo is also set to feature a separate, large-scale map featuring 20,000 units. Once I’m able to play it, I’ll be sure to pen my thoughts on it.
The Troop June Update
The team working at The Troop seems to be having a lot of fun releasing free updates lately, and we just got one more, featuring 2 new flashback units: the British 2prd AT gun and the German leFH18 light howitzer. A new unit perk called “low velocity gun” was added, and there’s also a new mechanic title, “minor aim adjustment”, a bonus for heavy weapons.
Gravity Circuit is Free To Keep Forever
I know this isn’t a strategy title or a wargame, but it’s still a very good free game, and you might enjoy your way around platformers, so heed my reminder and go pick up Gravity Circuit on Steam, which is free to keep forever, to commemorate the release of Gravity Circuit 2. It’s a great palate cleanser from the more hardcore and serious games one is often used to playing, and a very good Megaman-like platformer.
Wargame Design Studio – The Proud and the Few
One of the best wargame titles ever made is currently on sale at the Wargame Design Studio store for 25% off its regular price, going for $29.95. This tactical-level wargame comes with 72 scenarios where you’ll take control of the United States Marines during their Pacific offensive, from Guadalcanal to the last moments of the War. Chris, our resident WDS reviewer, considered the game to be the best digital take on the subject, especially after receiving a major update in 2025.
