Strategy and Wargaming News – 7 June 2026 – Star Wars Zero Company Out This Autumn, Hell Let Loose D-Day Update, Royal Navy Coming To Sea Power

This week has been quite a momentous one for gaming as a whole, with the PlayStation State of Play revealing some big games coming soon, like Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and of course, God of War: Laufey with its glorious, cosmic cube named Frank. The Summer Games Fest took place two days later and showcased the new Control game, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, and the most important announcement of all: We got new details on Star Wars Zero Company. As for the rest of the strategy genre, things were a lot milder, but let’s get into it.

Star Wars Zero Company Is Almost Here

We finally got a proper look at the gameplay of Star Wars Zero Company during the 2026 Summer Games Fest, and the game is looking worthy of being one of strategy gaming’s most anticipated titles of 2026. I have spotted things like weapon modifications, plenty of utilities like impact bombs and medkits, a lot of cosmetic options for your squad, which look really damn good. There are some abilities that not only deal damage, but also allow players to move enemy units around the battlefield, which should allow for the setting up of some great combos, and we saw the Mandaloria unit crashing down and throwing an enemy off a platform. The trailer also ends with an ominous “General Skywalker”, so here’s hoping we’ll be able to play as the soon-to-be Darth Vader. I’ll probably do a future breakdown for my Tuesday article, so stay tuned for that. The great news is that the game is coming out on August 27th, 2026.

The Royal Navy and Argentinian Navy To Arrive In Sea Power

The Sea Power team is currently working on delivering a 1982 Falklands War campaign, which will allow players to take both the roles of Argentina and the British. Because of this, the Royal Navy and the Argentinian Navy are now planned for a September 2026 release, with several unplanned ships, submarines and aircraft being added as a result, with at least 26 new units confirmed, and plenty of others currently being worked on as we get closer to its release. To be released on June 30th is a Task Force Mode and a Pacific Strike ’85 Campaign, formerly a workshop modded campaign. The dynamic campaign phase 1 is now slated to come out at the end of 2026, with the team currently working on balancing the AI, force persistence, logistics, map support, and a mission generator with enough quality that makes the whole thing come together nicely.

Battlespace Command Reveals Mission Planner

The first developer diary for the up-and-coming all-encompassing wargame from MicroProse, Battlespace Command, was unveiled, and there are several interesting takeaways one can get from it:

You’ll be able to issue orders to each warship, flight of aircraft, platoon of infantry, and vehicles. To help the player manage this amount of units, the game is set to feature a comprehensive mission planner, à la old Rainbow Six-style of planning, apparently. Once a unit reaches a destination or is forced to engage with the enemy, it will call out to you to let you know what it has just done.

Props to the developer for doing such a diary as soon as the game was announced, which is doing a lot of legwork to help dispel some of the skepticism I read going around on how feasible it would be to deliver a game of this magnitude, being developed by a single guy. I guess people forget that The Last General is also being done by a single person.

Command the Scharnhorst With Battleship Command

You can now take control of the mighty Scharnhorst in Battleship Command, a World War 2 naval wargame published by Slitherine and developed by a single guy. Its catch is the fact that you can commandeer the whole ship with unseen detail, and do it all from a first-person perspective, as you take on the Royal Navy on the Atlantic, the Arctic, and the Mediterranean. Out in Early Access, it plans to stay that way for 12 months, as a full campaign and other features like a torpedo launcher, more ships and planes, and a patrol game mode, amongst others, are developed.

Panzer Strike Demo Available Now

Panzer Strike, the aspiring 2000s old-school RTS in the vein of Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike, just unveiled its demo, which you can download and play right now via Steam. Having played it myself, I found it to be a bit rough around the edges and not a particularly enjoyable experience, with the game’s pathfinding needing a lot of work.
