We’re back with another news-rich week, and some of the news is quite surprising. R.U.S.E. is back on Steam after being delisted, The Troop released new units for free, and Theater of War is getting remastered! Join me, and let’s have a look at the news that shaped the last days in strategy and wargaming!
Theatre of War Is Being Remastered
Do you remember Theatre of War? Man, it has been a while since I heard about this one! I’m pretty sure I still have all the physical copies of several games in the series. I never really knew what to make of the whole thing. On one hand, it was quite a detailed wargame; on the other, it played so poorly that I just couldn’t stomach the low frame rate long enough to last more than a couple of missions.
Hopefully, Theatre of War Rearmed will revamp the whole thing and turn it into an experience worth having. The passion project of a single developer, Rearmed unites all main entries and their expansions into a single complete package that goes from 1943 Africa all the way to the Korean War. All games were updated to the most recent version of the engine, 64-bit support was added, core systems were revised, AI was improved, Steam Workshop integration was implemented, the UI was redesigned, and the visuals were improved. I’ll be jumping into it today to see what I think about it, and might even pen something for next Tuesday.
R.U.S.E. Is Back On Steam
I mean, yeah, R.U.S.E. is back on Steam after being delisted a couple of years ago. Developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft in 2010, the game had one of the best trailers in living memory, with two dudes going at it in suits, moving units around a massive tablet. It’s the most early-2010s thing imaginable, and I love it. Quite outdated by today’s standards, and the game wasn’t all that good to begin with, so I’m quite surprised to see it come back and cost 30 dollars. Way too steep.
Maneuver Warfare 2: BTG Is Tackling The Russo-Ukrainian War

Decisive Action Games made the bold decision to move Maneuver Warfare 2 from the Second World War and into the 2022 mess that was the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. Called Maneuver Warfare 2: BTG, it’s going to feature a full campaign and allow players to create their Battalion Tactical Groups (BTG).
