Top 10 Most Wishlisted Strategy Games On Steam In 2026

Introduction

I don’t think there’s a better indicator of what players are most excited about than the Steam wishlist numbers. Does a game interest you? Add it to the wishlish. Does it look interesting? Into the wishlist it goes. Looks great? Wishlist it! You get the gist of it: if a game is remotely interesting or exciting, it will end up on a player’s Steam wishlist. For this list, I have gone to Steam and scoured the strategy section, and listed the actual strategy games, in order of number of wishlists!

Join me, and let’s discover the 10 most-wishlisted strategy games on Steam in 2026! If you want to find out more about other games coming in 2026, I have put together several lists, and you can check them all out here!

10 – Star Wars Zero Company

I’m actually surprised that Star Wars Zero Company isn’t ranking near the top of this list, because putting together the team that worked on XCOM alongside one of the most well-known sci-fi franchises of all time sounds like an exciting premise to me. In fact, it’s the strategy game I’m personally most excited for in 2026. Star Wars Zero Company takes place during the last days of the fan-favorite Clone Wars, and players must lead a team of special operatives in daring missions as agents of the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS). The game is set to release at the end of 2026, and hopefully, a lot more information about it should start popping up soon.

9 – Transport Fever 3

Tycoon games have always been a staple of pc and strategy gaming, but I wasn’t aware that Transport Fever 3 was coming out in 2026. Still, from the information available on its Steam Page, the third entry of Urban Games’ transport tycoon is set to make a comeback soon enough, promising to be “bigger, deeper, and more dynamic” than its predecessors. Players will be able to build routes on land, establish sea lanes, and airways, starting from humble beginnings with wagons, and chronologically moving forward up to the modern day. Alongside its complex transportation simulation, Transport Fever is also promising a living simulation of its work, where every person has a home, job, places to be, and people to see. It’s going to be very interesting to see if Transport Fever 3 manages to surpass the second game in the series, which is widely regarded as one of the best tycoon and strategy games of all time.

8 – Prison Architect 2

Prison Architect 2 has to be the weirdest of entries on this list. On one hand, there hasn’t been a lot of news about it for a year, but as far as we know, the game hasn’t been cancelled either, and Paradox usually cancels games when they think they won’t be making it to release. Aside from that, Prison Architect 2 has been steadily releasing updates to its developer branch. But what is Prison Architect? Well, it’s a game where you design, build, and operate your very own prison, take care of inmates, and have to deal with all the shenanigans inherent to the business. The first game was a Kickstarter darling and one of the original success stories of video game crowdfunding. Hopefully, Prison Architect 2 will follow in its footsteps, delivering a high-quality and quirky strategy experience.

  3. I’d say that the steam wish list is not a very good metric for assessing what games are being looked forward to by people but only what upcoming steam games some of the players are looking forward to. For example I’m not interested in anything on this list.

  5. I’m surprised falling frontier is on here. By what I’ve seen on many forums more and more people are removing it from their wishlist mainly because the dev not only keeps delaying it but bans anyone they can when they bring up his confidence issues. Which I believe is the main reason it keeps getting pushed back every year and why he waits until the last minute to do so.
