The 10 Best Wargames To Buy During The Steam Winter Sale 2025

1 – Field of Glory 2

Total War is often lauded as the definitive depiction of warfare for the Antiquity and Medieval periods. But aside from the graphics and the spectacle, there’s a title that has Total War beat in every other aspect when it comes to simulating warfare. That game is Field of Glory 2 (or its medieval, but more expensive equivalent, Field of Glory 2: Medieval, my personal favorite), a turn-based strategy wargame that will provide you with the most authentic simulation you can find, where equipment, numbers, morale, tactics, and formations all play a part.

Conclusion

Hopefully, this list has helped you decide which titles to pick up and fill your Steam library with some of the best wargames to buy during the Steam Winter Sale 2025. From the battlefields of antiquity in Fields of Glory 2, to the crucible of World War II represented by SGS: Spain at War, and all the way to modern-day naval and air warfare simulations in Command: Modern Operations, this selection offers a wargame for every type of player and every strategic taste.

  1. Was this list the 10 best or the 15 best games to buy?

    1. A spelling mistake on my end. It is a top 10.

  2. War on the sea is one of the worst games made. Jap subs can’t miss us ships. The also auto populate very close to the American base. When i try to put subs to sea they have to travel all the wat to the slot. My ships cant find a sub with active sonar but the japs sure can find mine.Controls are awful and no matter how many jap ships I sink they keep coming back with2 or 4 CAs a cl or two and several destroyers. Even after sinking 20 of their ships.

    1. Wasn’t aware of those issues, but the community seems to love the game.

  3. What game was used in the thumbnail at the top of the article? That looks SO cool with the boats and planes and all different battles going on.

    1. I think its a game called RUSE. Its an older game they stopped selling it on steam years ago because the company didnt renew any of the licensing from our military to use the names of the vehicles. There is a way around it thou. You can still buy it with a VPN theres videos online showing in detail.

      1. Hello, the game is Wargame: Red Dragon.

    2. Wargame: Red Dragon is the game on the image. The first of the list too. Cheers!
