10 Amazing Strategy Games Releasing Soon In 2025

There Are Still Plenty of Exciting Strategy Games Releases Left In 2025

The final months of 2025 are poised to deliver a feast for grand strategy, space and sci-fi enthusiasts, as well as historically minded players. Several highly anticipated titles aiming to redefine the genre, such as Europa Universalis V and Anno 117: Pax Romana, will be coming out in the next couple of weeks! I put this list together after scouting what games were about to release in 2025 and came to the realization that we still have a lot to look forward to in these last two months, with some of the year’s biggest releases being only a couple of weeks away! This is very exciting, proving once more that strategy games are very much alive and thriving, and that our beloved corner of gaming isn’t going anywhere soon! I hope you enjoy, and let me know in the comments if you are excited for these titles too!

10 – Stellar Reach

The 4X genre has had a wild year, with Civilization VII being a massive release but a major disappointment for players on one hand, while on the other, Endless Legend 2 came out in Early Access and still managed to capture what made the first one so special. The genre still has one more release coming soon: Stellar Reach, a title that promises to satisfy the cravings of dedicated grand strategy fans by cramming massive technology trees, complex economies, and a huge military component. There’s not a lot of footage available, but the game is coming out in a couple of days, so we should be getting a proper taste of it any time soon!

9 – Super Fantasy Kingdom

The Hooded Horse publisher stamp is almost always a sign of a great game. Well, after releasing 9 Kings this year, they are going for another strategy city-builder roguelike with Super Fantasy Kingdom. This title, soon to arrive in Early Access on the 24th of October, will challenge players to rebuild a ruined homeland while simultaneously fending off relentless hordes of monsters that attack the kingdom’s gates every night.

The game’s core loop is a compelling balancing act: by day, you expand your settlement, harvest essential resources like wood and stone, and manage production chains for food and gold. By night, your carefully recruited team of heroes automatically defends the gates against increasingly vicious waves of fantasy foes, including powerful bosses. The most striking aspect of Super Fantasy Kingdom is, in my opinion, its Super Mario-esque art style reminiscent of the Nintendo days: colorful, adventurous, and beautiful!

8 – Whiskerwood

Games are usually created for people who love cats, but in Whiskerwood, another game from Hooded Horse, our feline companions are the oppressive force you must face as the leader of your band of extremely industrious mice. This sophisticated colony management and city-builder features strong elements of simulation and a whimsical, yet subtly dystopian, cat-and-mouse theme.

As the leader of the ‘Whiskers,’ it is your job to build your town, explore new lands, and establish new settlements, all in an effort to appease their sharp-clawed overlords. Players must manage intricate, automated production chains to efficiently gather and process over 40 different commodities. The core challenge is striking a balance between meeting the personal needs of the individual mouse citizens (food, water, shelter, climate control) and fulfilling the ever-increasing, oppressive demands and taxes of those pesky furries, a process made complex by the small, often vertical, nature of the island maps.

  1. PvZ: Remastered is not the definitive version. It’s a sloppily slapped together shell that involves basically none of the original artists or talent. There’s been a non-zero amount of drama over it.

  2. The expectation that EU 5 will be playable before the year 2027 is delusional. If it is not a bug-ridden empty DLC generator, than it will be the first time Paradox has managed to pull that off in their history.

  3. […] The most anticipated strategy city-builder of the year, Anno 117: Pax Romana from Ubisoft, is coming out soon, on November 13th, 2025. It’s promising to change the way players experience the series by adding a new layer of real-time strategy combat on land, a feature notably absent from Anno 1800. I have yet to try the Steam Fest demo—it’s been impossible to get to it with all the other games I’ve been covering—but I will, and I may even share my first impressions. However, based on all the player feedback I’ve been gathering, the sentiment towards the game is very positive, making it one of the most anticipated releases still to come in 2025. […]
