Strategy and Wargaming News – 5th April – New Star Wars Strategy Game Leaked, Against The Storm New DLC, War Thunder Infantry Coming Soon?

Endless Legend 2 Keeps The Tradition Of Bringing New Factions

The Aspects are a peaceful faction that seeks coexistence with the people of Saiadha. A mix of organic corals and machines, the Aspects are connected to a gestalt mind called The Chorus, and it is through this mind that they can all come together and find agreement. A recent affliction weakened The Chorus, and now the Aspects must rebuild their connection and regrow stronger once more. Lovely stuff from Endless Legend 2.

Conquer The Hearts & Minds In Northern Ireland

Every Single Soldier, the team behind the famous turn-based strategy games built around a system of conquering Hearts & Minds instead of territory and populace is set to release their new game, Northern Ireland ’74 sometime during the second quarter of 2025. The game is set during The Troubles, an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted from the late 60’s to the late 90’s. It’s your job to stop the IRA and the UVF as the Royal Ulster Constabulary or the UK Army. While the scale of Vietnam and Afghanistan worked great for these – mostly rural- countries, I’m interested to see how it’s going to translate into a conflict that was highly urbanized in nature.

War Thunder Teases Infantry and World War I

The vehicular MMO War Thunder might be introducing infantry soon. Historically known for launching wild new features during April’s Fool’s Day just to bring them into the game a couple of months later, War Thunder recently teased the introduction of infantry into the game. If this comes true, I personally believe it would make War Thunder the de facto most complete military shooter ever made. Tanks, Planes, Helicopters, Ships and Men all together in massive battlefields? Where else can you find that?

The community went into a frenzy over the announcement, with some expecting it to be just a joke, while others were optimistic about the inclusion of two-footed meaty war machines.

Also, for good measure, a couple of World War I tanks and planes are available to play with too.

Distant Worlds 2 Welcomes 2 New and Distinct Factions

The Stellaris-but-for-people-who-love-really-in-depth-strategy-games Distant Worlds 2 is getting a new DLC that adds two new factions to the game: the Atuuk and the Wekkarus. The first is a diplomatic and economic-focused faction that’s under the leadership of their Gret Direction. The second is a secretive and mysterious faction that would rather keep to themselves, acting as a mostly defensive species.

The game’s also 50% off right now, so it’s a great time to get into it! It’s a massive game that’ll take you years to learn, but if you’re into that kind of stuff, you’re going to have a lot to love here. Read my review, if you’d like more information on it!

Critical Moves Disagree While Discussing Broken Arrow

Since we’re on a roll of new strategy games, the guys at the Critical Moves Podcast entered a massive disagreement on the topic of: “Is Broken Arrow a simulator?”. Watch me educate Tim and Al on why Broken Arrow is not a simulation, and which games they could actually be playing if they’re curious about realistic depictions of modern warfare. Go help me out and write in the comments that you agree with me and they’re wrong and know nothing about this.
