Hello, everyone! Sorry for my continuous absence, but those of you who follow me on Facebook know I’ve been a bit “out”. For no particular reason other than a lack of time, due to real-life work, intense workouts, and overall family life. With that being said, things should be going back to normal over the next month or so, so expect more content regularly.
The Steam Next Fest Has Amazing Games
If you were having a hard time dealing with the dry start of 2025, the Steam Next Fest should keep you busy plenty, with hundreds of demos for you to try and give a whirl. My personal recommendations go to Task Force Admiral and Tempest Rising. I also read good things about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown, and Battlefield Commander WWII, but I haven’t tried those yet.
EA Games Does A Good Deed? What?
An angel must have lost its wings this week because EA Games actually did something good. They’re releasing the fully recovered source code for Command & Conquer (Tiberium Dawn), C&C Red Alert, C&C Generals and Zero Hour expansion pack, under the General Public Use License. This will allow the community the ability to continue creating content for the classic franchise for years to come. What a time to be alive. Oh, and they’ll have Steam Workshop Support.
ISLANDERS: New Shores Announcement
One of my all-time favourite “strategy games to relax with”, ISLANDERS just announced a new, exciting sequel. ISLANDERS: New Shores is coming out sometime during the Summer of 2025, and it’s going to bring new buildings, properties, and new islands to play around in. If you don’t know what ISLANDER is, it’s a high score-based city-builder where you place certain types of units to make combos, gain points to acquire new units and make even more powerful combos, and so on, until you either run out of points, out of space, or out of luck. Also, the original ISLANDERS is on sale for a dollar, just get it.
Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition Players Receive Bad News
A promised DLC for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition was been canned after “serious consideration”. However, by redirecting the people to the community-made mods and saying that servers will be maintained, this announcement reads more like a corporate speech “We are not going to continue supporting the development, and we will do the bare minimum so people don’t complain too much”. It’s fair to say that people are upset, and rightly so.
Crown of Hispania: A Grand Strategy Game Launches A Kickstarter
Crown of Hispania, a medieval grand-strategy game set during the 11th century, on the Iberian Peninsula, currently under development by Regalis Studio just launched their Kickstarted a couple of days ago, looking for 20,000 dollars. The game looks like it’s aiming at delivering a Crusader Kings-like experience, but exclusively focused on the turbulent Peninsula, a location that saw the Reconquista and the Almoravid invasions. If you want, you can pledge to this Kickstarter here, starting at 5 dollars, but only 25 will grant you a copy.
Knights In Tight Spaces Launches In March
In just 3 days, Knights in Tight Spaces comes out. Instead of taking control of a sleek, suited-up John Wick as you did in (very good) Fights in Tight Spaces, you’ll now be leading a team of medieval-ish characters in turn-based battles. The basic gist remains the same: use the cards to move and position your characters to do the most amount of damage possible. By not fighting alone, Knights in Tight Spaces allows for a lot more combos, something that really tickles my noodles in the best kind of way. You give its demo a go right now.
Broken Arrow Impressions Out Soon
You might have seen your favourite YouTubers and gaming influencers give Broken Arrow a go. We have been offered a single-player peak at the game, so expect my impressions during the next couple of days. Hopefully, Broken Arrow will impress me as much right now as it did a couple of months back.
Tally-Ho Corner Interviews Nuno From Strategy and Wargaming
When I started OneHexAway in 2017, I distinctly remember being inspired by the likes of Tim Stone, probably the best guy covering wargames since forever. It shouldn’t be a surprise to read me saying that receiving an interview request from someone whose work I truly respect was an honour. I answered Tim’s tough questions, and he swiftly edited them and published them a couple of days later. If you want to know more about me, for some reason, check it out!
Support Strategy and Wargaming
I do what I do in Strategy and Wargaming because I love to do this, and I’m never going to stop. If you would like to support me with that, you can buy me a coffee for a dollar if you’re feeling generous. If you can’t, no worries, Strategy and Wargaming will always be free, and I’d love to have you around!
