This week, things were a bit light in the strategy gaming-sphere, but (!) they were not when it comes to first-person shooters, and since I love first-person shooters and I’m sure you do too, let’s do a different round-up of strategy and wargaming news by including some good FPS content too! As for the strategy news in this update, we are going to have mostly new gameplay footage for a couple of games still to come! Great stuff!
Battlefield 6 Revealed And Looks Amazing!
For the first time in well over a decade, I feel like the Battlefield franchise is back on its feet, after this week’s reveal of Battlefield 6, and I couldn’t be more excited for it, to be completely honest with you. The way the combat flows almost seemingly reminds me of Battlefield 1; The Battlefield 3 classes have been brought back, and the destruction, which was so characteristic of the franchise and popularized the Bad Company 2 game, is also making a return. The announcement left me so excited for what’s coming that I’m actually in the middle of a Battlefield 1 match as I am typing this out. Well, got to get back!
Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance: Uprising Out Now
I still feel bad for never putting out a review for Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, which is an amazing game in its own right, and some dumb reviewer at IGN gave it a 5. Fortunately, the game went on to be quite successful and has a very positive rating on Steam.
Uprising is the new DLC for the base game, and it introduces an entirely new way of playing the game by adding a dynamic, strategic campaign giving you command of the Resistance and fighting against the Legion and a host of human factions. The campaign takes place over a strategic map comprised of 22 different maps, where the real-time strategy battles will take place. It’s a great idea, and it might be enough to have me jump back into the game and see how the game is right now, over a year after its release.
Burden of Command Finally Has The Greenlight In Germany
One of my favourite games of all time, Burden of Command, is now available for sale in Germany, almost 4 months after it initially came out in April. Always uncompromising in the face of historical truth, Luke Hughes, the head-honcho behind the game, rightfully refused to censor the game to appease weaker minds, even at the cost of a substantial portion of his audience: “The necessary delay in entering the German Market surely cost us sales. But the team is passionately committed to history as, we believe, is our audience. That shared commitment meant historically accurate photographs (Swastikas, etc.) and, at times, images of graphic wartime violence. We are grateful the German USK rating committee issued a 16+ age rating for the title, acknowledging the authentic and socially adequate context in which such historical symbols are depicted,” – Luke. To celebrate this milestone, the game is currently 20% off.
MicroProse To Publish New Tycoon Game
Microprose has snagged another game to its ever-expanding line-up. This time, it was the satirical Car Park Capital, a tycoon game where you have to turn perfectly great cities and towns into capitalistic hellscapes of car parks, and charge people for it! The 90s art style is looking lovely, and the satirical tone is just top-notch and fits the theme perfectly.
