4 – Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4

After the incredible success of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition and the attention it brought to the Dawn of War franchise after it went dormant with Dawn of War 3, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 had the perfect groundwork to be very well-received, and if you take into account the fact that Dawn of War 4 is going back to its classic RTS roots, then it seems like all the stars are aligning for this to be the return to form the series needed. Dawn of War 4 will have over 70 single-player missions covering all of the factions available (Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus), an army painter-mode, and it will allow players to play with Primarch, which is absolutely wild, with the first one revealed to be playing being the fan favorite Lion El’Jonson! 3 – Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000
If you need any proof as to how powerful the Total War formula is and how it resonates with players, Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is the most recent announcement of this list, and it’s already in the third spot as the strategy game with the most wishlists. Truth be told, very little was revealed about the game, aside from the fact that it’s well into development and that it’s going to be using the new Total War engine, Warcore. The game is set to follow the Total War formula we all know and love, and made the series one of the best-selling franchises in history, all the while increasing the game’s scope to go into a new, massive, galactic level. I’m personally very curious to see how the game is going to play and how it’s going to mix ground battles and space combat, and especially how things like aircraft and ranged combat are going to play out in a series that has mostly been about melee.
2 – Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era

Having played Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, the number spot on the list doesn’t surprise me one bit. From the first moment I opened it up, it was like I had been transported all the way into the early 2000s, when I first encountered Heroes of Might & Magic on my Gameboy Color, and everything just clicked together, and the formula of Heroes is just on point with this one: from the fantastic nature of its world, the wonder of exploration and the traditional turn-based combat, everything is just perfect. I read a lot of opinions online about it, and pretty much everybody agrees that this is going to be the game that’s going to bring back the series, and it’s set to be a massive hit in 2026. If you don’t believe me, you can play the demo for yourself on Steam and then go and add it to your wishlist as well!
