1. Armored Brigade 2
I’m a longtime Combat Mission fan and a Cold War junkie. Growing up on movies like Rambo and Stripes, the WW3 aesthetic hits me right in the nostalgia. Since transitioning to 3D, Armored Brigade 2 has become something truly special. The graphics aren’t flashy, but troop movement, pacing, and AI behavior are unmatched. It’s brutally challenging, endlessly replayable, and arguably the best war game of 2025, possibly even the best wargame of this decade. My only complaint is the lack of narrative in its campaigns. Hire a writer, and this would be nearly perfect.
2025 Had Some Amazing Strategy and Wargames Experiences
This list isn’t meant to be definitive for Strategy and Wargaming, but readers who follow my work know I gravitate toward more obscure and hardcore titles. Big releases like Battlefield 6 didn’t impress me enough to justify a purchase, and for games like Europa Universalis V and Broken Arrow, Nuno has you covered.
