Just in case you’re new to Strategy and Wargaming, I am a massive Star Wars fan, and a massive XCOM: Enemy Unknown fan, so when Star Wars: Zero Company, a game that’s promising to mix those two things together was announced (and being developed by the team who worked on XCOM as well) I immediatly knew that this was going to be the game i would be looking out for going into 2026. It’s not only the best turn-based strategy game to wishlist for in 2026, but in my opinion, it’s the best strategy game to wishlist in 2026, period. A Jedi, a Mandalorian, and a Clone Trooper all working together on the same team? Let me play it right now!

That’s it, folks! My top selection for the best turn-based strategy games to wishlist in 2026. It might be a shorter list than the one you might be used to finding in here, but I have decided to focus on high-quality titles instead of trying to reach an arbitrary round number of 10 games just because. And in my opinion, having played most of these during demos and showcases, 2026 is going to be a historical year for turn-based strategy fans!
