Introduction
This is a new one! I don’t remember Steam running a Black Friday in years prior, so that’s always nice to see! In this list, I’m going to go a bit more generic and not delve too deeply into each game; it’s just a very quick guide on games I think you might be interested in buying. For more in-depth guides, please explore some of my other lists.
15 – Halo Wars: Definitive Edition
One of the few games that came out during the “let’s make strategy games for console” craze of the late 2000s. It’s a good real-time strategy set in the Halo universe, just don’t go into Halo Wars: Definitive Edition expecting a lot of depth and advanced tactics.
14 – RimWorld
RimWorld is one of the GOATs of Colony Sims alongside Dwarf Fortress. If you enjoy the idea of creating your own settlement and then watching as everything inevitably goes wrong and every single one of your pixel buddies dies a funny death, then RimWorld is the game for you.
13 – 9 Kings
One of the best strategy games to have come out in 2025 so far, 9 Kings is an addictive time waster. Developed by Sad Socket and published by Hooded Horse and INSTINCT3, this is a fast-paced fantasy kingdom builder, roguelike, that’s also an autobattler with deck-building elements. Quite a mouthful. It’s very fun and awesome for short gaming sessions.
12 – Classified: France ’44
Can you imagine XCOM: Enemy Unknown in World War 2? That’s Classified: France ’44. It was my favorite turn-based strategy game of 2024 due to being packed to the brim with personality, having solid turn-based mechanics, perfectly designed missions, and easily recognizable enemies. I called it a “golden nugget waiting to be discovered” in my 9/10 review.
11 – Age of Empires 4
Age of Empires is quite possibly the most recognizable real-time strategy series ever made, and in my opinion, Age of Empires 4 is the only title in the series that even manages to hold a candle to Age of Empires 2, because it’s Age of Empires 2 with a little bit of flair. The game’s campaigns and documentaries are a big highlight.
