4 – Tavern Keeper
Plenty of games have attempted to take on the challenge of creating a Tavern, yet few have succeeded. Enter Tavern Keeper, from Greenheart Games, the team behind the amazing Game Dev Tycoon. In their previous game, you spent your whole day managing development efforts and forecasting video game sales, but in the charming Tavern Keeper, you’ll be running a cosy establishment, with plenty of chaotic events and challenges going on around you. It’s charming, fun, and looks like it’s going to be the Tavern-sim game to keep your eye on.
3 – Bladesong
What’s better than being a Tavern Keeper? Well, being the swordsmith who goes there at the end of the day. That’s the premise for Bladesong, a medieval crafting-sim that tasks players with forging unique weapons, tailor-made to their customers. I know what you’re thinking: “Is the game crafting system modular, and can I create what I want?” Yes, yes, you can. “But can I make magic swords?” Yes.
2 – Earth of Oryn
One of my most anticipated strategy games for 2025, and one of the more beautiful games currently in development, Earth of Oryn is an upcoming city-builder set in a medieval world where players can build to their heart’s content with a modular building system, manage their economies, explore and expand, and fight real-time battles. While that’s all nice and pretty standard for the genre, what sets Earth of Oryn apart is its incredible low-poly art style.
