Hey boys, we are back with another edition of Strategy and Wargaming news! This week, we have the release of the Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, the announcement of Sudden Strike 5, a new game from Relic Entertainment, and a lot of other reports, hearsay, and releases.
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition Is Out Now And It’s Amazing
Stronghold Crusader is back and with an absolute stunner of a Definitive Edition! It kept the basis of the game precisely the same, it improved graphics, added new missions, bigger maps, new Bedouin units and AI Lords, making this 2025 edition of the game the most complete, and the best there has ever been. When all is said and done, and after I was done with my review, I came to the conclusion that Stronghold: Definitive Edition is certainly one of 2025’s strategic highlights.
Sudden Strike 5 Is Coming Out In 2026
Of all the things in my bingo card for 2025, seeing Sudden Strike 5 turning out to be a thing wasn’t in there. After a big hiatus, SD4 turned out to be a good-enough, arcade real-time strategy (RTS), where its standout feature was the number of scenarios it tackled. From the looks of it, SD5 is going to toe the line very closely to its predecessor.
Relic Announces New Game: Earth vs Mars
I don’t know who, at Relic, thought that diverting resources to explore new, smaller projects of untapped potential, but he should be given a raise. We really need more companies willing to give a go at wilder ideas. Earth vs Mars is the first of those projects, and it’s turning out to be quite an amazing take on the Advance Wars formula. There’s a 3-mission demo available for you to try right now.
Panzer Corps 2 New DLC Is Called Westwall
Panzer Corps 2 is well on its way to becoming the wargame with the widest breadth of content imaginable, as it’s now continuously making way on the Western Front. In Westwall, you’ll be in charge of the American formations as they attempt to break the German defenses on the Siegfried Line, between September and December 1944. The usual content is expected: new battles and scenarios, new units and fortifications like Dragon’s Teeth and Pillboxes. The new DLC is coming out on the 19th of August, 2025.
WEGO World War II: Stalingrad
This traditional World War 2 wargame came out on the 25th of June with very little fanfare, which strikes me as odd, given the fact that I have seen several people online commenting on how great it was. Built on the framework of Desert War 1940-42, WEGO World War II: Stalingrad zones into the desperate struggle for the Russian industrial city of Stalingrad with a scale of either 2500 meters per hex in some scenarios, and 5000 meters per hex in others.
