Welcome to this week’s Strategy and Wargaming News! With the Steam Wargames Fest coming to an end, it’s time to go back to our good old reliable weekly updates! So, what do we have this week, I hear you ask? Well, Hooded Horse announced two new games, Endless Legend 2 is almost here, and there’s a new World War 2 tank game I have never heard of! Grab a coffee, and a cookie, and join me while we take a quick stroll over the best strategy gaming news of this week.
A New World War 2 Tank Game?
One of my favourite Youtubers, Wolfpack showcased a new game called Aces and Armor, a multiplayer tank-sim in active development that’s looking pretty amazing. However, the Youtuber raised a couple of serious concerns about its business model of selling tanks, and then allowing players to sell them on a marketplace. Imagine having to pay hundreds of dollars to get your hands on a Tiger tank? If this model is something the developers are set on doing, count me out, unfortunately.
I Played Every Day We Fight and Loved It
Hooded Horse’s turn-based strategy/RPG Every Day We Fight now has a release date and it’s coming out on July 10th, 2025. I have been given early access to it and it’s a really cool title, that takes the formula popularized by games like XCOM and adds a couple of interesting twists, like allowing players to control where they’re shooting, and unlike Valkyria Chronicles, in Every Day We Fight enemies can run away from you while you’re firing at them, adding a new element of first-person shooting skill to the equation. There’s also an intriguing time loop storyline I want to find out more about. I’m very excited to play the final product.
Addictive Roguelite Kingdom Builder 9 Kings Out In May
Hooded Horse continues their publishing spree, and their fast-paced roguelike kingdom builder 9 Kings is coming out on the 19th of May. There’s a demo available for those of you who wish to try it out, but from the comments, a lot of people are loving it, calling it extremely addictive! I’m going to give this demo a go later today.
Endless Legend 2 Comes This Summer
Endless Legend 2, the 4X that’s better than Civilization and it’s being developed by AMPLITUDE Studios and published by Hooded Horse is coming to Steam’s Early Access this Summer. While no precise release date has been announced, just the next that we are getting a new Endless Legend game is enough to get me excited! Hooded Horse gave me access to Endless Legend 2 and I have to say the game’s shaping up to be as unique (you can play as a species which is a coral reef with legs) and as good as the first one.
Wargame Design Studio Game of the Week and Crusades: Book I Demo Available Now
The first update for Crusades: Book I is now out, and it adds a couple of enhancements to the AI and the artillery fire against fortifications will now damage the defending troops too. Some other bug fixes were made. If you haven’t played the game, there’s a demo available now for you to try, and you can check out my review here. Wargame Design Studio runs one of the best weekly deals for their titles, and this week it’s War Over Vietnam, which is currently 25% off it’s normal price.
