Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic New DLCs

If you ever wanted to see how well would communism fare in Pittsburg, the British Isles, France and… North Korea? You can now with the World Maps DLC for Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic DLC. On May 22nd you’ll also be allowed to spread the spirit of communism way early, by going back to the 1930s, 40s and 50s! These new 30-odd years introduce slower speeds, tough logistics, 90 new vehicles, new buildings and two new maps: Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Who’s Excited for Star Wars Zero Company?

We are! At the Critical Moves Podcast, we did a deep dive on the recently announced Star Wars Zero Company, which was a blast! We discussed previous Star Wars strategy games (there aren’t that many, to be fair), and then we discussed what we already know will be in the game, but we also speculated on what we would love to see in it. It’s a great episode; give it a listen!

Critters Crossfire Is Good Old Fashion Fun!

A couple of days ago I got an email from the developer of Critter Crossfire, a turn-based tactics roguelike. It looks a bit silly, but the fact that you are the one aiming the shots and there are a bunch of obstacles on the maps makes Critters Crossfire quite an addicting and satisfying experience, despite the fact that it looks a bit like a fever dream! There’s a demo available, so give it a whirl, will you?

Myth: Twice Born

Myth: Twice Born Edition is a worthy remaster of Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soulblighter, and has just come out this past Easter Sunday, courtesy of a loving and passionate community of modders.

Rule The Waves 3 Remaster Update

The beloved naval warfare title Rule The Waves 3 just launched a massive new update which modernized the whole game, added a bunch of new features, redesigned several parts of its user interface, fixed a bunch of bugs and reworked a decent part of the game. Reading through the comments it’s clear that the reception was extremely positive. I even started the game and it’s a lot more vibrant and colourful. Love to see it!

Songs of Conquest – Roots DLC Announced

Beautiful game extraordinaire, Songs of Conquest is getting a new DLC called Roots. This will add a new biome in the form of a sentient forest, 8 new troops, 9 wielders, more town buildings, 5 new conquest maps and 2 new challenge maps. There’s no release date yet.

DCS Partnership With Famous Mod Maker

“We are excited to announce a new partnership with Currenthill, which will bring many of his outstanding ground vehicles, aircraft, and ship AI assets to DCS. Currenthill is well known in the DCS community for his excellent mod packs and these AI assets will be added to the Core engine free for all of you to enjoy.” – The first iteration of the Currenthill Assets Pack will add 23 new vehicles, as well as high-resolution textures, custom sounds and animations.

Gates of Hell: Ostfront Gets More Competent Medics

My life for Call to Arms – Gates of Hell: Ostfront is widely known by now, but one thing that has always annoyed me about the title is the amount of oversight the units need, especially the medics, and when you’re FUBAR in the middle of a battle, it can be hard to micromanage every single action necessary to make the most of these every important field rescuers. Fortunately, there’s a new feature, turned by default where medics will automatically revive soldiers as long as they’re close enough to them. This is a lifesaver, quite literally. By the way, the game’s currently on sale, so grab it if you want to play one of the best 100 games you need to play in 2025.

XCOM Complete Humble Bundle Special

To round this weekly update off, if you don’t have any of the XCOM games were waiting around for an opportunity to buy into the series, Humble Bundle is currently running the XCOM Complete Game Bundle, and you can get every game in the series for less than 10 dollars.

  1. The modernization package for RtW3 looks great, might actually try to get into it again. The auto-medic for GoH is also a good feature to have, it’s been in various singleplayer mods for ages and with the amount of lobbies I’ve seen with the mod enabled, I’m sure it was a popular request.
