The Best Games To Buy At The Warhammer Skulls Festival of Video Games

The Warhammer Skulls Festival of Video Games just started on Steam, and it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary with some massive sales that are very much worth checking out if you’re into the franchise, or thinking about dipping your toes into the grim-dark future of 40K, or exploring the pseudo-medieval fantasy setting of The Old World.

As someone who enjoys some of these titles quite a lot, here’s a brief rundown of the titles that you might want to take a quick look at. Have a look at my best Warhammer games to play in 2026 if you want an in-depth look at some of these titles.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector – $11.99

With the number of games that the Warhammer franchise pushed out during the last two decades, it’s surprising that, up until the release of Battlesector in 2022, there was a huge gap in the catalogue, as it lacked a proper, high-quality turn-based strategy title. Fortunately, Slitherine picked up the license and turned Battlesector into the best turn-based strategy game the franchise has ever seen. It has everything you’ll need: all the major factions, all the recognizable units from the tabletop, a single-player campaign with a unique story, high-quality graphics and animations, an active competitive multiplayer scene, and continuous support from the developing studio, which, by the way, just added the Ultramarines today!

Space Marine 2 – $17.99

If moving pieces around a glorified chessboard is a bit too boring for your own liking, and you prefer to be in the thick of the action, your best choice is to take control of Captain Titus, of the Ultramarines, and fire and chainsaw your way through the endless hordes of Orks and Tyranids with Space Marine and Space Marine 2, respectively. The gunplay is punchy and satisfying, and the story is actually interesting, with plot twists and constantly growing stakes. I absolutely love it, but I’m a sucker for what people now call “The Xbox Shooter”, meaning: third-person, way too over the top, and the bro-like art-style of massive shoulder pads and hunky armor. Hey, don’t judge me!

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – $4.49

Take XCOM and XCOM 2, now change your XCOM operatives for Grey Knight Space Marines, the aliens for minions of Nurgle, and you have Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. Fantastic turn-based strategy game, and for less than 5 dollars, this is a steal. Probably the best deal of the whole festival.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition – $17.99

Very few RTSs are as fondly remembered as the original Dawn of War, with many a player considering it to be the highlight of the series. While I didn’t have the chance to play it when it was new, in 2004, the Definitive Edition that came out in 2025 gave me a new chance, and to say that I fell in love with it would be an understatement. One of the best RTSs of all time, and with the visual and quality of life upgrades that the Definitive Edition brought, it’s so worth it.
