7 – SGS – Spain At War

There are very few Spanish Civil War games, which is a shame, because it’s one of the most important and relevant conflicts of the 20th century, and the predecessor of World War 2. If you’re not ready to do a massive deep dive into Slitherine’s Spain at War 1936-1939, then you can play the second-best thing, which is SGS – Spain at War.
6 – Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation
With Ashes of the Singularity 2 on the horizon, and with the first Ashes of the Singularity going for a couple of dollars, this is a great RTS worth revisiting, where players command massive armies on massive battlefields against the Substrate (or other players). Very similar in scale to something like Supreme Commander.
5 – Scramble: Battle of Britain

Have you ever asked yourself what World War 2 air combat would be like if it were turn-based and a strategy game, instead of a real-time flight sim? Well, with Scramble, you need not wonder, because it’s exactly that, set on the Battle of Britain. Pretty amazing, but still in Early Access and in development.
