This week in strategy and wargaming news, Strategos just launched, Task Force Admiral is officially launching on the 27th, and I’m going to be a part of Slitherine’s Hot Seat. Read on for more.
Strategy and Wargaming To Feature In The Hotseat

For the first time ever, I’m featuring myself in this weekly update of Strategy and Wargaming News. And that’s because Slitherine has invited yours truly to be a part of The Hot Seat, which is going live this January 28th, set to feature Ian Fischer, an industry veteran, better known for his work in Age of Empires 2, and Patrick Streppel, the CPO at Jumpgate AB.
While those two might go live to talk about serious industry stuff, I’m going to join the livestream to talk about… other cool stuff you’ll find out if you watch the stream! But I can let you in on this small secret: Me and Slitherine will be running our own GOTY Awards, and YOU will be the ones voting on it!
If you’re unaware of what The Hot Seat is, it’s a monthly show hosted by Marco Minoli, the Marketing Director for Slitherine, featuring in-depth discussion with strategy game developers and industry professionals as a whole. If you haven’t checked it out, you need to tune into it this January 28th, at 6 pm CET on YouTube and Twitch.
Turn-Based Strategy Games Market To Reach $15.2 Billion By 2033

Long gone are the days when players used to say “strategy games are dead”. If anything, they’re more alive than they have ever been. A new report from Strategic Revenue Insights valued the turn-based strategy games market at around $6.9 billion dollars in 2024, and predicts this number might reach $15.2 billion by 2033. The reason given for this growth is the increasing popularity of “strategic gaming among diverse age groups”. No wonder my list of the best turn-based strategy games for 2026 performed so well; people are actively looking for new and exciting experiences!
Strategos Brings Ancient Warfare Into 2026

Strategos just came out, and it’s already a feature in my 10 Best Strategy Games Set in Medieval and Ancient. The game’s currently sitting at a Very Positive Steam rating, so this beautiful and engrossing strategy title is really capturing the hearts of players. So nice to see a somewhat niche game do well!
War In Spain 1936-1939 Out Now

If you’re not chronically seeking gaming news and strategy, especially, you probably aren’t aware that War in Spain 1936-1939 has just been released. War in Spain 1936-1939 is the most complete and realistic take on what’s arguably one of the most important conflicts of the 20th century. Matrix and Slitherine were generous to provide me with a key, but I haven’t been able to find the time to give it a go this week. Hopefully, by the time this article comes out, I’ll be giving it a whirl.
