The 10 Strategy Games I am Most Excited For In 2026

1 – Star Wars: Zero Company

Star Wars is, by a country mile, my favorite sci-fi setting in the world. Yes, even more so than Warhammer 40,000. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is also, by several country miles, my favorite turn-based strategy game ever made. If I weren’t constantly changing my mind, XCOM: Enemy Unknown might even be my favorite game ever, just up there with games like Shovel Knight and Age of Empires 2.

Now, if you put two and two together, you can easily tell why Star Wars: Zero Company is the strategy game I’m most excited to play in 2026, by virtue of being a mix of the two things I love the most in entertainment. We have seen very little of the game so far. Still, it was shown to promise an experience that is highly similar to the aforementioned seminal turn-based strategy game that single-handedly brought the genre back to the mainstream. Set during the twilight years of the Clone Wars, players will lead a team of professionals for hire, including a Mandalorian, a Clone Trooper, and a Jedi, amongst its ranks.

Conclusion

There you have it, the 10 strategy games I’m excited to play in 2026, in order of personal preference! 2025 was an awesome year for games, and 2026 is shaping up to be even greater. Whether you agree with my rankings or have your own favorites in mind, these upcoming strategy games showcase just how diverse and ambitious the genre has become. I’ll be keeping a close eye on each of these titles as they move closer to release, and I can’t wait to see which ones ultimately earn a permanent spot in my library. Let me know which strategy games you’re most excited to play in 2026.
