7 – Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
I’m going blind here because I haven’t had the chance to play Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, and very little footage of it exists, but from just that and the premise of it being a real-time strategy (RTS) game set in the universe created by G.R.R. Martin, it sounds almost too good to be true. From some of those small snippets of footage, it even seems that the game is not only going to have RTS battles, but will feature a sort of grand-strategy element as well. One can only dream!
6 – Kriegsfront Tactics
Kriegsfront Tactics was a title that I knew about for so long, but only recently did I have a chance to try its prologue, and this turn-based strategy set in 1970s East Asia with mechs instantly jumped from “curiosity status” to “I cannot wait to play the whole thing”. A game that keeps the turn-based strategy basics set forward by games like XCOM and Jagged Alliance, it shakes up the formula by adding an intricate mech-management system, system sub-targeting, and PS1-inspired graphics.
5 – Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4
After we got an awesome remaster of the original Dawn of War in 2025, a remaster that might actually be one of the best remasters ever, alongside Age of Empires 2: and Stronghold: Definitive Edition, I’m beyond excited for the ressurgence of the Dawn of War series, and see if Dawn of War 4 manages to become the redemption kind of title that Dawn of War fans want, and from the looks of it, the game is promising, with plenty of singleplayer content, fan-favorite factions, and even playable Primarchs. The reason why it ranks on my list of my 10 strategy games I’m most excited for in 2026 is the fact that I had such a blast with Dawn of War: Definitive Edition, that seeing the series return to it’s 20 year-old with 2026 quality of life features sounds like we are on the brink of witnessing one of the best RTS in recent memory.
