Strategy and Wargaming News – 9 November 2025 – Task Force Admiral Release Date, Company of Heroes 3 New DLC, Total War: Warhammer III – Tides of Torment

Here Are This Week’s Strategy and Wargaming News!

Hello! This week, we are going to have a much smaller news update than usual, and that’s essentially because we are nearing the end of the year and things are starting to wind down a bit in the games industry as a whole. We’ll go over the new Company of Heroes 3 DLC, the Battleplan showcase from Slitherine Games, and what’s new on Total War: Warhammer III – Tides of Torment DLC, and a couple of other topics here and there!

Company of Heroes Endure & Defy DLC Coming This Month

It does seem like Company of Heroes 3 has managed to stay alive a lot longer than I expected it to be, and seeing new DLCs constantly coming out means that there’s a healthy multiplayer scene willing to pay for them, right? Well, I just checked Steam Stats, and there are still more people playing Company of Heroes 2 every day than they do Company of Heroes 3, but they’re kinda close.

This new Endure & Defy DLC is exclusively multiplayer-focused, and it’s going to introduce four new battlegroups:

  • US Forces – Italian Partisan Battlegroup: Tunnel networks, resource siphoning, and underground detonations are sure to be a thorn at the enemy’s side;
  • Wehrmacht – Last Stand Battlegroup: A defensive battlegroup composed of immobilized vehicles adapted into improved positions;
  • British Forces – Polish Cavalry Battlegroup: Very self-descriptive, but it has Sherman Fireflies with rocket launchers, because the 76mm gun didn’t suffice;
  • Deutsches Afrikakorps – Kriegsmarine Battlegroup: It sounds like another defensive battlegroup, but it can count on the help of the Kriegsmarine offshore to keep enemies’ heads down.

I’m happy to see that Company of Heroes 3 is still doing well enough to deserve this kind of investment, but I would love to see it launch another grand campaign, and if possible, set in Normandy. I think the game is well worth a shot in 2025, so one can only dream, right?

Battleplan Showcase Looks Fun And I Want To Try It

Battleplan is one of the games I’m most excited about. Not only is it set in World War 2, but it’s also set during my favorite campaign: Normandy. The game also looks like it’s going to be amazing for future DLC, and I’m sure this is going to serve as a basis for other operations, and it won’t be long until we see Ardennes and Stalingrad! The most recent gameplay showcase (unveiled on Friday) shows a game that has a lot of promise and depth.

The core gameplay loop centers around a multi-step planning phase where players lay out their offensive, anticipate enemy actions, and prepare fallback or counterattack orders. Battles take place over multiple days and nights, with time management being crucial—daytime is for offensives, while night allows for crucial, unseen repositioning and massing of forces for a surprise dawn assault. I didn’t put Battleplan on my Top 10 Wargames to Look Forward To in 2025 and 2026 because I thought the game wasn’t going to come out anytime soon, but if YouTubers are already playing it, then I guess it shouldn’t be long? I want to play it!

Total War: Warhammer III – Tides of Torment DLC

While we wait to know more about the future of Total War, players of Warhammer III will be getting a new DLC, coming out on the 4th of December 2025, called Tides of Torment. The DLC brings a trio of Legendary Lrods for the High Elves, Slaanesh, and Norsca, and will be released alongside update 7.0, which introduces new battle units, campaign features, free content, and tweaks and fixes. Aislinn, from the High Elves, will have a naval-focused campaign with a roster composed of units like Mist Mages, Sea Elementals, and Merwyrms. Dechala wields 6 blades, and her campaign is all about land conquest and unrivaled violence. Last, but not least, Sayl is a Chaos Sorcerer, and his main campaign is all about building the Chaos Altar on his journey to complete a great ritual.

Tavern Keeper Out Now

The creator of Game Dev Tycoon has toiled away for a decade on their most recent title, the extremely cute and colorful Tavern Keeper, a management sim where you, the player, act as the titular Innkeeper.  Released on the 3rd of November, the game has already garnered nearly 1000 reviews and an impressive “overwhelmingly positive” rating. I haven’t played it yet (didn’t even buy it), but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist for much longer, because the game looks fun as well!

Task Force Admiral Target Release Window Announced

Finally, after years of waiting, we have some news about the release date for Task Force Admiral, and the team is aiming for a Q1 2026 release into Early Access! That’s right, we could be a couple of months away from finally getting our hands on what’s going to be one of the most transformative wargames ever made. Having played it before and loved what I saw, I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

Whiskerwood Out Now In Early Access

Remember Whiskerwood? One of my suggestions for you to play during the recent Steam Next Fest was about controlling a colony of mice trying to please their feline overlords? It’s out now on Steam’s Early Access and is currently going for 20% off.

Wargame Design Studio Game of the Week

Game of the Week Musket & Pike Great Northern War Header Image

Another week goes by, and another Wargame Design Studio title goes on sale for 25% off! This time, the famous wargames publisher takes players back to the start of the 18th century, when Russia, Denmark, and Saxony decided to gang up on Sweden and kick-started a war that would last for two decades and one year. The Great Northern War includes 89 scenarios, covering all the significant moments of the war, and the game features orders of battle for every unit necessary for those scenarios.

See You Next Week!

Well, sorry that this week things have been a bit shorter than what you’re used to, but I cannot go around and make up news just to entertain you, so there’s that! I wish you a happy Sunday and a lovely week!
