Matrix and Slitherine, the publishers of some of the best wargames of all time, have a busy week ahead, so listen up because I know that you want to be in the know. They’re dropping a ton of news and content, all focused on the good stuff: strategy games and celebrating their 25th anniversary. A lot of exciting things are coming!
Matrix Games 25th Anniversary and Home of Wargamers 2025
On Thursday, September 25th at 6:00 PM CEST, Matrix is going to be celebrating a quarter-century in the business, and they’re doing it with their annual Home of Wargamers event. This isn’t just a birthday party; it’s a look into what’s coming next for some of the biggest wargame franchises.
Here’s the key intel I got from them, and what you can expect:
- The future of the Combat Mission series will be revealed.
- News update about Armored Brigade II.
- News about Rule the Waves 3 latest DLC- Expanded Battles
- You’ll get to know more about Strategic Command: American Civil War – Concert of Europe.
- They’re also teasing a sneak peek at Modern Naval Warfare.
- And, get this, there’s going to be a “truly special surprise” for fans of the War in the East series. It’s probably worth tuning in just for that if you’re a fan of the series.
The developers of Rule the Waves 3, WEGO WWII: Overlord, Command: Modern Operations, Flashpoint Campaigns, and Nuclear War Simulator will all be there.
But wait, there’s more. The day before, on Wednesday, September 24th at 18:00 CEST, the third episode of The Hot Seat is going live. This is their new live stream format where they talk to two big names in the industry, and it’s not limited to their own games. It’s a wider look at the strategy genre, which is always welcome.
This time they’re hosting Frederik Schreiber, CEO of Slipgate Ironworks (the studio behind Tempest Rising), and Felix Ekenstam, CEO of Midjiwan (The Battle of Polytopia). These are two very different games, but that’s the point. It’s a chance to get some great insights from developers working across the strategy spectrum.
Save The Date
You can watch the whole thing live on Twitch! In case you miss it, I’ll be here with a round-up of everything announced on that day! I hope to see you there!
