The 10 Best Turn-Based Strategy Games To Wishlist In 2025

4 – Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era

If you were to tell me- a couple of years ago- that a Ubisoft game would be making it into one of my “wishlist” lists, I would have laughed and quite possibly thought you were out of your mind. But hey, here we are. The legendary fantasy strategy series is making a highly anticipated return with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. This official prequel, planned for Early Access in 2025, is a love letter to the classic titles that defined the genre. The game is a deliberate return to the roots of the franchise, featuring a new world to conquer, a unique Faction Laws system for in-depth customization, and music composed by the original composer, Paul Romero. From the looks of its trailers and media, the game is shaping up to be quite a throwback for fans of classic turn-based strategy and city-building. If you’re a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic, undoubtedly, this is an essential addition to your wishlist.

3 – Endless Legend 2

The original Endless Legend is one of the best strategy games ever made, period. Launched at a time when Civilization ruled the 4X genre with its historical approach, Endless Legend came with a fantasy twist, a new and novel way of playing its factions, and a deep world filled with lore to explore and discover. Now, the highly anticipated successor to one of the most beloved fantasy 4X games of all time, Endless Legend 2, is launching into Steam Early Access on September 22, 2025, and fans are eagerly anticipating whether it manages to live up to their very high expectations. This sequel promises to evolve the genre with its trademark asymmetric factions and a dynamic, ever-changing world thanks to the new “Tidefall” system. This innovative mechanic ensures that the map never becomes static, offering new strategic opportunities and challenges throughout the entire campaign, making it a game-changer for grand strategy fans. If you go to the game’s Steam page right now, you can download a demo and give it a go, see if what’s on display here is to your liking, and add the game to your wishlist of turn-based strategy games.

2 – MENACE

From Overhype Studios, the developers of the cult classic Battle Brothers, comes MENACE, a new sci-fi tactical RPG planned for an Early Access release in Q3 2025. If you played Battle Brothers, you possibly know what to expect from MENACE, because the team is drawing its inspiration very directly from their debut title. MENACE brings its signature brand of punishing, turn-based combat to a whole new universe, where you command a strike force responding to distress calls across a galaxy under siege. With a focus on brutal, realistic combat and a dynamic, persistent strategic layer, MENACE is poised to become one of the most talked-about tactical games of the year. Recent updates showcase a massive amount of hardware players will be able to equip their troops with, with dozens of vehicles (Mechs included), armor upgrades, and weapons. If there’s one thing that gets me excited for a turn-based strategy game, it’s the possibility of equipping my troops the way I want to. So, if you’re a fan of Battle Brothers and XCOM, then MENACE should be on your wishlist since

  1. I know you weren’t born when it was released, but at least do some research. Final Fantasy Tactics DID NOT release on any Nintendo system, at any point in time.

We didn’t put Super Robot Wars Y. You guys have no love fore the visuals and it’s the perfect combination of strategy RPG and anime robots. You have problems. Also, the only system to feature the original FFT and not a remake is PS1. Gameboy advance and NDS got sequels and PSVita and cell phones got the War of the Lions remake

  4. The option to choose between enhanced and classic versions shows real respect for both new players and veterans. animasi

  5. […] So, with all that being said, where do I think the game could improve? As of right now, without the meta-layer, it’s hard to see how foundational mechanics like each of the squad leaders’ personalities will play a role, and how progression is going to impact my overall enjoyment of the title. From a purely tactical standpoint, I think MENACE is almost right on point, with solid mechanics, fun and addictive gameplay, and it managed to fuel my desire for more. In fact, I’m currently traveling as this article is going live, and this MENACE demo is going to be my sole entertainment for the rest of the week. From what I have seen, MENACE has certainly won its spot on my 10 Best Turn-Based Strategy Games To Wishlist In 2025. […]
