The Only Game I Bought This Steam Summer Sale 2025 Was… Well, What About You?

I know that this might sound almost heretical to read about, but during this Steam Summer Sale, I only got: One. Single. Game.

That’s right, of all the thousands of opportunities to stack up my library, I only scooped one up, and that was… drum roll please…

Planet Coaster 2!

For years, I have wanted a game that allowed me to build my very own water park. You see, despite being an absolute nerd in almost every way possible and imaginable, I’m also the kind of person who loves sports and these kinds of activities. Waterparks are just something that’s as fun to me as anything else I do in video games. When Planet Coaster 2 was announced, I thought to myself, “nice, that’s cool”, but when I saw that their major update would be the inclusion of waterparks, that’s when everything changed. Unfortunately, it all seems for nought, as Planet Coaster 2 had a very rough launch, and with some gigantic shoes to fill from the original Planet Coaster, anything other than perfection would not fly with its audience, and its terrible UI and performance made it clear the game needed a lot of work still.

Fortunately, for me, the game came in November, which is not exactly the best time to be playing a game that’s best experienced during the hot days of summer, so I had plenty of time to wait for it to be updated to working order. Well, after 6 updates, that seems to be the case, with most of the complaints having gone away entirely, and I haven’t had any issues with it yet.

Sometimes the best experience one is looking for is to just kick back, relax a bit, and just enjoy designing your dream waterpark in locations and ways that would be impossible, impractical, or just too ridiculously expensive in real life.

This year, I’m planning a trip to one of Portugal’s largest waterparks, and the last time I was there was around 2 years ago, so I’m expecting to come home inspired to recreate it.

I’m also playing Every Day We Fight from Hooded Horse to review it, and World of Horror on the side, because I wanted to take this summer to try out some new stuff that’s not just strategy games, and the RPG nature of World of Horror mixing up with the Junji Ito aesthetic and Lovecraftian themes seemed right up my alley, and I’m having a blast playing it as well.

What games have you bought during this Steam Summer Sale 2025? And Why?
