Strategy and Wargaming News – Company of Heroes 3 For Free, Two-Point: Museum A Massive Hit, Field of Glory: Kingdoms – Rajas and Tribes Out Now

This week was a lot quieter, but some interesting news was spotted in the wild. Relax, get yourself a nice cup of coffee, and let’s get up to date with this week’s Strategy and Wargaming news.

Burden of Command Teases a Release Date

In just a couple of days, we’ll finally know when we’re getting shipped out to the Western Front, as Burden of Command devs are getting ready to announce the game’s release date. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this one.

Company of Heroes 3 Free For This Weekend

It’s hard to believe that been two whole years since Company of Heroes 3 finally came out. A lot has been improved since, especially since Relic Entertainment set themselves free from their corporate overlords, and were given free reign over the series. Check the video out if you would like an in-depth look at what the team has been doing. Now that I’m writing about it, I want to go and play it and check out if things have gotten better. You can do that too, because the game’s currently free for a while. Maybe I’ll finally get around to reviewing Company of Heroes 3, let me know if you guys would like to see that.

Two-Point: Museum Is a Massive Success

Two Point Studios is one of those teams that never misses the mark. Two Point: Hospital became an instant classic, Two Point: Campus made managing rowdy students into a tycoon challenge, and the recently released Two Point: Museum is already turning gamers into museum managers and amateur historians. You love to see it.

Tank Squad Coming Along Nicely

I’m very curious to see how good Tank Squad is going to be. Having played it twice before, I think, in some sort of Steam Fests. While it managed to intrigue, it failed to impress, but since then the team has been hard at work, and this looks like one of those cases where a game was shown too early, and it should have been kept under wraps. However, this looks to be the definitive German armoured forces experience, as you’ll spend as much time on the battlefield, as you will be fixing that over-engineered piece of crap that got damaged by a Russian tank put together by rusty rivets, frozen vodka, and faith in Stalin.

Field of Glory: Kingdoms – Rajas and Tribes

The excellent Field of Glory: Kingdoms is finally getting its first DLC, aptly named Rajas and Tribes, the game’s European-centric setting is now pivoting to the Indian subcontinent and the north Africa. The map has been expanded as far as the city of Delhi, to the East, and South until the Kingdom of Ghana and Ethiopia. This DLC will introduce new mechanics for nomadic and tribal nations, new custom buildings, war goals, two new scenarios, and of course, a whole new host of new playable nations.

The Old World Keeps Getting Better With New DLC

Hooded Horse’s answer to Civilization, Old World, was released three years ago and has been constantly updated with new DLC ever since. Just a couple of days ago, Old World – Wrath of Gods was released, introducing natural disasters to the base game in the form of nine calamities. The DLC also adds a new scenario, 200 new events, 26 new projects, 8 new character traits, and new missions to strengthen your nation. There’s now a new map script featuring unique game settings that transform the terrain throughout the game, with mountain ranges becoming passable, and coastlines receding. This new dynamic terrain introduces new strategic conundrums to deal with. Maybe Civilization VII could have taken a few notes.

Planet Coaster 2 Is Getting It Together

After a rough launch, the Planet Coaster 2 team went back to the drawing board and designed a proper roadmap to tackle some of the issues people had with the game: performance problems and technical issues (like poor pathfinding, and units getting stuck), a lack of ride variety, and even some missing themes. The plumes are now rounded, instead of flat, making the physics more realistic, and the rafts themselves now deform as well. Things are shaping up, and the Steam recent reviews already went from mixed to mostly positive.

Battlefall: State of Conflict Goes Early Access

Microprose continually adds new titles to its ever-expanding catalogue, and now is the time for Battlefall: State of Conflict, a post-apocalyptic RTS to enter Steam Early Access on March 11th. An RTS that, at least from the trailers, looks rather similar to something like the original Command and Conquer, or Red Alert.

Age of Darkness: Final Stand Review

Age of Darkness Final Stand Review Strategy and Wargaming

I finally got around to reviewing the decent, but not great Age of Darkness: Final Stand, a horde-defense RTS in the vein of They Are Billions. If you’re interested in picking it up, or curious about what my thoughts are on it, go and give this review a read.
